Happy Summer
Dear Cooks Families,
As I sit here in our eerily quiet school and reflect on the year, I am overcome with gratefulness and flooded with thoughts of how the children grew over the year! Kindergartners learned to read and express themselves using their words (which is a big deal)! First graders seamlessly transitioned through their literacy centers even switching rooms without a hitch and learned to write a paragraph that included all of the important parts. Second graders became more independent and began the transition from learning to read to thinking more deeply about what they read. Third graders successfully endured their anxiety and complete their first IREAD/ISTEP tests! Fourth graders learned the importance of working as a team and mastering double digit multiplication and long division. Fifth graders developed their "thick" questioning skill and used them to generate their own unique ideas and conclusions to use when discussing and writing about what they've read. They also worked to set individual goals and learned how to persevere until they achieved them. I am so proud of each and every student! Our mission states, "At Cooks Corners, students are empowered to achieve personal excellence while developing empathy, integrity and perseverance". This year was just that!
Thank you for sharing your children with us! Make it an awesome summer!
