See Saw
Stage 1 edition
See Saw
When you are ready, you can connect parents so they can see what their children are doing in class.
Setting it up settings
Click on your name/user profile
Go to manage class:
1. If you job share- add the email of your co-teacher by selecting "Manage teachers". You could also include support teachers so children can upload their work if you wish
2. Enable item editing- make sure it is turned on. If it is off- children will not be able to edit. eg. if you take a photo of a maths question and what them to draw or comment to show their answer, they will not be able to UNLESS you turn editing on.
3. New items require approval- if it is turned off, children instantly see their work uploaded. If it is off- children don't see their work until you have approved it.
4. Student likes and comments: decide if you wish children to 'like' and comment on others' work. NOTE- for reflective practices it is important children have the option to comment. However, this process can be modelled and you can select the option that you need to approve comments.
5. Create folders- once you are familiar with the basics you may wish to create folders for your students eg. Math; Reading.
Using See Saw for reflective practices
Just a few lesson ideas
1. Take a photo of the guided reading book and have children read their favourite page by selecting the microphone. Upload their sample. Ask them to listen to their own/others work and comment on oral fluency, expression, tips for improvement etc.
2. Take videos of book summaries. Have students film each other recording a summary of the guided reading book. Otherwise, they can take a photo and orally record their summary following reading.
3. Writing- photograph their latest piece of writing and complete their 2 stars and a wish about their own/others writing. Remember to clearly display their learning intention so their reflection on their writing is specific and accurate.
4. Post a photo/visual prompt for your students. Ask them to use the drawing tool to record their inferences eg. This character is frowning. They must be angry because...... This could be for stand alone images or having students make inferences about images in books they are reading.
5. Use the drawing tool to draw their story graph or record their thoughts about a persuasive topic you are looking at in class.
Maths
1.Use the drawing tool for students to draw and record their thoughts when solving maths problems. *A great insight into their thinking when solving problems and see their strategies in action.
2. Reflect on their learning following a unit of work through the drawing tool with oral recording. Use the reflective learner prompts and ask students to reflect on what they have learnt etc.
3. Post a picture of questions and ask students to edit to show their solutions to the questions.
4. Paste a link and share with your students an online game you may wish them to complete.
5. Make a video showing other children how to complete a math task and 'teach them' through video.
6. Take a photo of constructions/hands on math lessons and have the students reflect on what they did/learnt throughout the process.
