Math
Reading & Writing
We started February off by celebrating Black History Month. This coincides with our reading and writing unit on biographies. We have read biographies about Ruby Bridges, Marian Anderson and George Washington Carver. In our classroom and homework reading logs, we are learning how to respond to biography texts. I have given students some suggested questions that they can think of as they are reading. Students are also conducting research for their biography presentation. You can view the guidelines on your child's iPad in Google Classroom. Most of the work will be done in class. However, students can also use sticky notes to jot important information as they read their biographies at home.
In spelling, we worked on contractions and r-controlled vowels. We will take this week to review previous spelling lessons and spend some time with high frequency words.
