7th Grade Sciences Make Edible Cells

7th grade Science students determined the difference between the organelles in a plant and animal cell. Students in Mrs. Windsor's science classes needed to list the following organelles based upon whether the cell they selected was plant or animal: cell membrane, cell wall, nucleus, cytoplasm, mitochondrion, chloroplast, and vacuole. The were allowed to use any edible item (nut free) that they wanted. While most selected the sweet route, some chose jello, pizza, and we even had a cheescake!!!! They were also able to view a human cheek cell on Thursday and if all goes well, they will view an onion cell sometime this week.

Sixth Grade Science Students Learn About the Asthenosphere

Sixth grade students made a mixture that represented the asthenosphere, a section located in the layer of Earth called the mantle. The mixture was a solid that acted like a liquid. After the mixture was squeezed, it would then act like a liquid and spread out conforming to your hand. Mr. Musgrove, Mrs. Warner and Mrs. Hines joined in the fun. They are just kids at heart.
