Greetings Falcon Families!
We hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving break and were able to spend some time with family and friends! We are continuing to do things with C.A.R.E.- Collaboration, Accountability, building Relationships and demonstrating Empathy in middle school and we encourage our students to do the same.
We met with students at all grade levels on Monday, November 29th, to celebrate the great things that are happening, along with reminding them of the expectations. Here is a copy of the Power Point slides we reviewed with students.
Student Incentive - We were so excited to have 281 students come to or participate in our first staff/student basketball game. Students were awesome as they cheered on their classmates and had fun in the stands. The teams played their hearts out, and although they didn't win, all students were great sports. Students were able to participate based upon their being on time to class at least 95% of the time.
We want to continue celebrating all the wonderful things students are doing and how so many are meeting expectations. Our next student incentive will be a Winter Formal Dance on December 17. Each grade level will have their very own dance during the school day in the gym. Students will also be able to earn tickets over the next 3 weeks to "purchase" concessions. Tickets can be earned for demonstrating great citizenship, meeting expectations and going above and beyond to do the right thing, even when they think nobody is watching. The criteria for attending the Winter Dance include the following:
- Getting to class on time at least 95% of the time
- No suspensions
- No more than one behavior referral to the office
We are looking forward to seeing your student at the dance on December 17! Some students asked - what is formal? This is their interpretation of formal - however, we'd love to see them in clothes that are more dressy than their typical every day school clothes, but it's completely up to you.
Mask Usage - We met with all students this week and one of the topics we covered was mask usage. We currently have cloth masks available to give to students. Some students complained about the type of masks we were giving out. Students can bring their own mask from home if they prefer. This would also allow them to wear a mask that may fit better. We need your help in reminding students to properly wear their masks over their nose and mouth while in the building.
Early Dismissal Procedures - Effective immediately, all students who are picked up prior to 3:10pm must be signed out by a parent/guardian in the middle school office. This is a safety precaution we are taking as a district to ensure all students are accounted for at all times.
During this season, we wish you and your family all the best. Enjoy one another and enjoy some time for you.
We appreciate you being active partners in your child's education. We value you.
Take care. You matter.
