A documentary about the impact of Social Media on on our lives.

LIKE was created to explore the impact of social media on our lives and the effects of

technology on the brain. The filmmakers believe there is power, empathy, and

self-reflection in watching as a community. Watching together can spark change, help us

understand our habits, and give us permission to talk about important issues. The film is

47 minutes and will be followed by a Q&A and discussion with Mrs. Stewart (Counselor) and Mr. Honey (Principal). This is designed to be an Adult-only event, we are working on how we can share this with our students.

We will be having two viewing sessions:

  • Thursday, March 14th at 7 pm in the SMS Library
  • Friday, March 15th at 8 am in the SMS Library (Tea with Honey)

We look forward to seeing you for a thought provoking event, as we work together to best manage the role of social media in our student's lives. Space is limited, Please RSVP below.

Character Ed/Counseling Corner

Character Ed. for March: Courage

Teaching students the concept of courage is important, but teaching them how to develop a courageous sense of self is even more essential. Students face intimidating situations all the time and learning about courage can help them deal with challenging life situations. Students need courage when they stand up to present a report to class, when trying a new activity or when sticking up for their morals and values in the face of peer pressure. We need to equip students with the idea of courage and an understanding of how they can develop it in their own lives.

This month with the help of the Character Ed. leadership committee, Counselors will be hosting several activities for students to strengthen their “courage” muscles. We have games, sticky notes, positive courage dares and much more!
