Romeo is at Fault
By:Hannah Schoenbauer
Who is at most fault for the problems in Romeo and Juliet?
I think Romeo is in most fault for the problems in the play.
Reason 1- if he would of never went to the party he would of never meet Juliet and he would of never fell in love with her.
Reason 2-Also if he would of never ask Juliet to marry him because their are from two families that have hated each other for years.
Reason 3- Finally when Romeo killed Tybalt because he was Juliet's cousin.
Evidence
Reason 1- If he would of never went to the party he would of never meet Juliet and fall in love with her. When he thinks that it is okay to go to the party that the Capulet's are holding even though their two families have been fighting for years. When he is there he meets Juliet Shakespeare writes, "What lady's that which doth enrich the hand Of yonder knight. Did my heart love until now? Forswear it, sight! For I never saw true beauty till this night" (1.5.50-55). This is saying that Romeo is falling for Juliet but he does not know that she is a Capulet. Reason 2- If Romeo would of never ask Juliet to marry he. When Romeo later that night goes and asks Juliet to marry him. Romeo says, "The exchange of thy love's faithful vow for mine" (2.2.126). Romeo should of not told her to marry him because their are from two different families and the have been fighting for a long time. Reason 3- If Romeo would of never got in a fight with Tybalt and killed him. After Romeo and Juliet get married a fight breaks out between Tybalt and Mercutio and Tybalt ends up killing Mercutio, Romeo goes after Tybalt and they get in this fight and Romeo ends up killing Tybalt who was Juliet's cousin. Shakespeare writes, " Romeo, away, be gone! The citizens are up, and Tybalt slain" (3.1.135). After that Romeo was banished for the town.
Why this evidence helps supported my argument because if Romeo would of never went to that party that he was never invited to he would of never meet Juliet and fell in love with her. If Romeo would of never fell in love with Juliet she would of never ask her to marry her. Also he probably would not have killed Tybalt. I think Romeo is the most fault for the problems in Romeo and Juliet because of all the reason I just gave you.
Some people might think it is Friar
Some people might think it is Friar who is causing the problems in the play. Because he was the one who marry Romeo and Juliet even when he knew the two families have been fighting for years. Or how Friar is helping out Romeo and giving him a plan of what to do after Romeo killed Tybalt. Or how Friar is helping Juliet by giving her medicine that makes it look like she is dead for two days so she does not have to marry Paris. But that person is wrong because Romeo is the person who is causing all the troubles in the story. Because if Romeo would of never fell in love with Juliet that night at the party or never ask Juliet to marry him or never went and kill Tybalt none of these problems would of never took place.
