First Day Fun!
Gratz Brown Parent Memo: August 18th, 2016
We had an amazing first day!!
Good afternoon! We are excited about the spectacular first day that we had at our school! The students were showing us they already have the routines down in our hallways and classrooms today. We had many "quiet coyotes" in our all school assembly and throughout the day when students were asked to turn off their voices. Ask your student to show you how we do this during our school day.
We kicked our day off with an All School Morning Assembly where our new teachers and staff were introduced to the students. We also "Welcomed" our new GBE 3rd Graders with a round of applause.
Students then practiced and recited The Pledge of Allegiance and our GBE School Pledge. We talked about being Respectful, Responsible and Safe, and how this is very similar at all schools, making us all great experts at that already!
We then ended our Assembly with a fun video about the First Day that shows how we were all feeling about our 1st day back-- I know I was excited! These hallways get really quiet and boring without each of our students' smiling faces. What a great start to this year! Thank you for sharing your child with us on this first day! We are looking forward to sail on into a smooth year at Gratz!
Go Gratz Spartans! We do things "The Spartan Way".

Tid Bits to Remember:
- For the first three days we will all go to the Gym in the AM prior to going to classrooms
- If your student has not eaten breakfast prior to arriving they will go to the Cafe', then the Gym
- Starting on August 23rd students will go to their classrooms each morning for morning routines
- We ask that all drop offs use the car rider line that loops around the building when dropping off your student in the am- this allows for flow of traffic and routine for your child
- Breakfast will continue to run as normal for students that have that need when they arrive
- Late Start Monday does begin on August 22nd, and runs as normal
- If you do not have a Hang Tag and Pick Up your child, feel free to drop by and pick one up in the office OR communicate with the teacher that you need one
- All Dismissal Procedures remain the same as last year-- Please remember once we reach a certain time we cannot pull students from Pick Up or Bus Lines- due to safety and cautionary measures. If you need to pick your child up early make sure this is done prior to 3:15 in order for no confusion to take place.
- If your child rides the bus and you have questions regarding routes, etc.. The bus # is 660-269-2699. Tara Wolfe is the Apple Bus Company Manager.
- We ask that you try to keep your child's transportation simplified in routine so we do not have any confusions.
Notes from the Nurse
- Meghan Dutton is our school nurse.
- Per district policy and medical conditions due to the nature of various medications and safety of our students, no student may bring in over the counter or prescription medication on their own.
- All Medication must be brought in by a parent and the proper paperwork and verification filled out by the nurse/office personnel and the parent. Please make sure to stop off at our Gratz office when you have this need.
