GRE Staff Newsletter
For the week of September 30, 2019
Dear Team,
Happy Sunday! I hope you had the opportunity to relax and enjoy the weekend. You all have been working so hard. It's so important that we refill our buckets on the weekend so that we are ready for the week ahead. I spent last night with some of my former colleagues dancing and singing the night away with Luke Bryan! It was the perfect way to top off a stressful week.
Sometimes we get reminders (albeit in odd ways) that kick us in the behind and shock us to open our eyes and count the blessings around us. Spending my days at another school reminds me that I love kids. I mean... I freaking love them! I made a new friend at the MS this week. Her name is Natalie and she's a 7th grader. When she sees me, she throws me a smile and a thumbs up. She invited me to play volleyball during outdoor time on Friday and even asked if I would hang out with her at the dance. She made me feel welcome and important. I made some other friends too. Gracie and I practiced the 13 Colonies, although I wasn't much help she kept smiling at me. Jacob gave me a hug at exactly the right moment to let me know that I can connect, even with big kids. And Carl and Jack, well they just made me smile by being around them! Their high fives made me giggle and lifted my heart. It is hard not being with you-you all have become my family but I have been reminded that my place in this world is with kids. Your place in this world is with kids! Do you see that? How will you remind yourself this week of your place in the world?
Here's to an awesome week!

4. At Waiver Day, staff wrote down behaviors that they weren't quite sure how to respond to. I've gathered these behaviors here along with possible consequences and teacher language. While each situation is different, this is at least a launching spot!
5. Here is the schedule for our Zoo Assembly coming up this Friday, Oct. 4th! I will make a video reminding students of our Zoo Assembly expectations. This will be shared on Thursday morning so you have time to show it before the assemblies. Please make sure that you are talking with your students about what is expected.
6. I look forward to seeing you for dinner on Wednesday evening at 5:40 in the STEM Hub. If you need assistance with any conferences, please let Katie or I know. Thanks for all you do!
