Christmas in Bolivia

Bolivia Christmas continues to be deeply religious,maintaining the original meaning and purpose of the holiday. Most families set up a "pesebre" in their homes and churches.They consist of animals, shepherds, angels, baby jesus, Mary, Joseph and the three kings place on top a bed of moss or straw or inside a stable. Others use real animals and people. Others use a very brightly painted plaster boxes called "retablos" shaped like a upright cross section of a house. Bolivian Villancicos, are the Christmas Carols poor people dance around the streets for money.
