Empathy in Action
In this week’s lesson, your child described a time they had empathy for someone and how it affected their thoughts and actions.

Ask your child to tell you about a time they had empathy for someone.
This week in Language Arts
ELA
This week in reading, students continued Unit 3 of ELA. Unit 3 is all about Building Ideas. We read a story called City Green about people that create a community garden. Students will take the End of Unit 3 assessment next week. Our focuses were use illustrations to understand the text, point of view, and comparing two stories.
In phonics this week students finished with long o words spelled with o, oa, and ow. Decodable readers reflected these skills.
This week in Math
Math
Concept
In math, students continued Module 4: Addition & Subtraction within 200 (with word problems to 100).
Fluency
Please work on basic addition and subtraction facts with sums to ten. When these facts are memorized math will become much easier. If your child knows them already, please work on facts with sums to twenty.
Science
Homework
Friday, February 10th - Thursday, February 16th
Inside Blue School & Home Folder
Spelling: Spelling test will be on Friday, February 17th. Please return the top portion of the spelling paper only no later than Thursday.
Optional Math Homework: This week we began Module 4. We will completed lessons 25-27. If you would like to have your child get a head start, they could complete the corresponding homework pages.
Please send Friday folders back to school, preferably on Mondays.
Birthdays
Due to allergies, if you'd like to send in a birthday treat with your child please make sure it is nut free and made in a nut free facility. We would like to include everyone! You can also choose to send in a non edible item like fun pencils, erasers or stickers. Below are some pictures of edible products that are okay to bring in.
We currently have 21 students.

Library book due date: Wednesday, February 15th
Your child has checked out two library books and they are inside their backpack. Please help them read them this week and return them on the due date so that they are able to check out new books.
