Literacy
Next week we will take a Mock EOG and begin learning about folklore.
Math
This week in math we have been working on line plots and reading data from line plots. By the end of the week, kids should be able to create a line plot using fractions as well as add data to the line plot. They should also be able to read the data on the plot to find out the median, mode and range.
On Tuesday, students took a practice EOG for math. Results from that test should be available early next week. We saw a lot of students working very hard to complete the test. We also noticed that the kids are taking a very long time to complete the test. We will be working on pacing over the next few weeks.
Next week we will move on to our measurement unit. We will convert meters, centimeters, kilometers, gallons, pints, cups, and ounces. It is a short unit which only lasts about 6 to 7 days. From there, at the beginning of May, we will move on to some beginning algebra.
Science
Before Spring Break, we began our unit on Body Systems by learning about cells. Students learned the difference between unicellular and multi-cellular organisms.
The Body Systems vocabulary list is now available on my Weebly and their Science Google Classroom for anyone who would like to begin practicing their vocabulary. There are quite a bit of terms for this unit.
This week in Science, we continued our unit on Body Systems by examining the Circulatory and Respiratory Systems to see how they work together. Ask your child if they know the other name for the Circulatory System. Next week, we will begin to discover the functions of our Skeletal and Muscular Systems.
