Principal's Message
Hello Families,
Staff are looking forward to beginning with our new students on Wednesday and all students on Thursday. We are excited for reconnecting with some and building new relationships with others. We are also mindful of the need for ongoing precautionary measures related to COVID.
Kids will be excited to see each other as well. Please remind them of the importance of keeping masks on throughout the day and maintaining three feet of distance from each other whenever possible. If your child is experiencing any COVID symptoms or has a fever, please keep them at home. Teachers will ensure that students get what they need to be successful in their classes.
As always, reach out to the school with any questions or concerns you might have. Have a great holiday weekend, and we’ll see you next week.

FRISB Updates
Welcome Back ISB! As we start a new school year, your FRISB Board would like to say HELLO! The Friends of International School of Beaverton (FRISB) serve as support to the students and staff of our school. That support comes in many forms such as volunteering, event coordinating, academic enhancement, and financially. Returning after an unconventional year, we are ready to jump in with this support and we need your help.
First on the list is our annual fundraising event, The Red Envelope Fundraiser. This event runs from NOW until the end of October. In the coming weeks, you will receive more detailed information on this event and how you can show your support. We only have this one major fundraiser during the year. This means we won't ask at other times during the year for financial donations. Having our fundraising event at the beginning of the year secures funds for our budget to be used in the present year. For those families that are familiar with our event, please feel free to visit Parent Teacher Organization (FRISB) - International School of Beaverton and donate now. The suggested minimum donation is $25 per student. Please be on the lookout for additional details and information on this event.
Second, we need your volunteer support. If you are interested in joining the FRISB Board, helping with an event, or providing academic support, please let us know by emailing FRISBoard@gmail.com. The ISB community has always had a strong volunteer presence and we want to keep that going. At this time, volunteers are not allowed during the school day, but there are so many other ways we need volunteer support. Most of our events wouldn't happen without our volunteers. The Beaverton School District has made some changes, if you have previously registered to be a volunteer, please visit Volunteer - Beaverton School District. If you are new to volunteering, please visit the same link above and complete the required registration process.
Finally, we invite you to the first FRISB General Meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 15th at 5:45 pm. We are going to begin these meetings via Zoom. As BSD makes changes/updates to the COVID guidelines, we will adjust accordingly and may switch to in-person meetings. The link for these meetings will be sent out in an email the day prior to the meeting. We hope you will join us!
We are looking forward to a great school year!

Washer and Dryer Request
We are in need of a stackable washer/dryer to wash art/sculpture aprons and rags, tablecloths, and cleaning cloths/towels. If you have a stackable washer and/or dryer you can donate to the school, it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Maritza Grasty at maritza_grasty@beaverton.k12.or.us with any questions.

September 8 - Transition Day
6th Graders (and other new middle school students): We will begin the day meeting in the school cafeteria as a full group. Students will be introduced to the full 6th grade team, meet the principal, learn some background and history of ISB, and get an overview of the day. The only materials you need to bring for the day are your markers or colored pencils. All other school materials can stay at home for now. Lockers will be issued on Friday during advisory time. Because of our adjusted schedule for orientation, students might be eating lunch earlier than they are accustomed to. It is OK for students to bring a small snack (granola bar, piece of fruit) to get them through the day.
9th Graders (and other new high school students): We will begin the day in the gymnasium so that students can meet the high school teachers and other returning high school students who will act as guides for the day. Throughout the day, students will be able to review their schedules, meet their teachers, and get to know each other. The only materials you need to bring for the day are a water bottle, sunscreen, and something to write with.
Lockers
Students will be using lockers this school year. 6th-8th graders will have access to their lockers on Friday, September 10th.
Picture Day
Picture day is scheduled for Tuesday, September 14th. All students will have their pictures taken for their Student ID card, but families who wish to purchase pictures can do so. Ordering leaflets will be handed out to students when they return to school in advisory class. Please visit dorianstudio.com for online ordering. Search for "International School of Beaverton" and choose the September 14th date. A picture makeup day is scheduled for Friday, November 5th.
Buses and Transportation Guidelines
Parents can view their student's bus route information through the E-Link Application. For those of you that are dropping off and picking up your students yourself, please make sure to follow the directions in the image below.
Parking in the school lot is extremely limited with spots reserved for staff at both ISB and the Beaverton School District offices that we share the lot with.
