Characterization(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d0/Trailerpark.jpg) The main character, Sarabeth Silver, in the book Silver, is brought to life in many ways through characterization. Examples: 1: "It was my home. I loved it. I had friends at school, but they didn't come home with me. I didn't ask them. I was a homebody, a home person." This comes from page 5. It tells how Silver enjoys being at home rather than with her friends. 2: "'Did you ace the test?'" "'I aced it.'" These excerpts come from page 66. This conversation between Silver and Jennifer helps tell us that Silver is intelligent, and probably studious, because she aced her test. 3: "I held her. She was gasping and choking. I kept thinking to get Grant, somebody, but I didn't want to leave Patty alone." This is on page 128, when Patty is trying to tell Sarabeth about her secret, but the thought of it is making her... well... do all this. This also helps characterize that Silver is considerate of others, because she decided not to leave someone alone in that state. In conclusion, the main character, Sarabeth (more commonly referred to as Silver), in the book Silver, shows who she is in many way through characterization. | Theme (http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1173219058m/259967.jpg) I believe the theme of the book Silver is: There are some secrets no one - except a real friend - will believe. Examples that led to this belief: 1: Sarabeth believes Patty when she tells her greatest secret, unlike Patty's mother. 2: Silver discusses options Patty has with her. 3: Silver also gives Patty refuge at her house so Patty can be away from the protagonist of her life. | Figurative Language(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d0/Orange_Tabby_Cat_On_Balcony.jpg) |
