Murray's Gifted Gab
October 2018
Welcome Back!
After almost a month of being out of school, it is wonderful to be back again and to see students getting back to learning. I hope that you and your family stayed safe during the hurricane. My family had minimal damage and are so thankful. Our school is ready to help parents, students, and teachers as we all try to gain some "normalcy." If your family has a specific need, please do not hesitate to share that with our staff so that we can help you find resources.
During this time it is important to remember that gifted students have a tendency to have intense emotions. You may find that your child is more sensitive to the needs of others, he/she may be more fearful, or experience sadness if you are experiencing loss. Allow time for your child to talk to you about these emotions or a counselor. Many times gifted students will feel empathetic and want to do something. Finding ways for your child to volunteer in the community is a wonderful way to help him/her cope and help them feel like they are making an impact.
If you have questions or concerns about your gifted child, please contact me. I am happy to discuss academic needs or social-emotional needs that are specific to giftedness.
