Welcome Back to School!

Dear Central Road Families:

On behalf of the Central Road faculty and staff, welcome to the 2019-20 school year! We hope you had a fun and exciting summer vacation with family and friends. I feel honored to work with such a group of highly qualified teachers, talented students and supportive parents. As partners, we will work together to ensure our students achieve at their highest potential. In addition to high academic rigor, we identify a focus area to prepare our students for the future. This year, our focus will be to teach students to preserve. We are going to teach, model and guide students to work hard, never give up and always try their best.

The first day of school is quickly approaching! Students in Grades 1-6 will return to school on Wednesday, Aug. 14. Kindergarten and preschool classes will begin Thursday, Aug. 15.

This email replaces the packet you used to receive in the mail over the summer. It is filled with important information to review before school begins! Please read it over carefully, and feel free to call or email the school office with any questions you might have.

Our school has undergone construction this summer. Students will be learning in classrooms that include new carpeting. Central Road also will have a new HVAC system that will provide students with the optimal temperature in the classroom.

We have a few changes in staffing due to retirements, closed sections and resignations. Please join me in welcoming the following staff members:

  • Mariel Zambrana - Psychologist
  • Julie Pater - Resource Teacher

We also had a few additional changes in grade level teaching assignments:

  • Paige Fairbanks - 2nd Grade
  • Tracie Fior - 5th Grade
  • Lissete Cabrera - 4 / 5 Transitional Bilingual

Meet the Teacher Day for grades Pre-K -6th is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, 2019, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Meet the Teacher for ECDEC and Kindergarten will be from 1:30-2:00 p.m. for the AM classes and 2:00-2:30 p.m. for the PM classes.

This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to come to school, meet the classroom teacher and drop off school supplies. The teachers will be very busy involved in meetings, preparing and planning for the upcoming school year on Monday and Tuesday of that week. If you plan to stop in, please make sure that you do it during the designated Meet the Teacher time slot, as the teachers and their classrooms will not be accessible otherwise.

Central Road’s Parent Orientation is scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, August 28, 2019. Please mark your calendar and be sure to come to this important informational evening. Specific times for grade level presentations will be shared after school begins.

I look forward to welcoming your back to school! In order to be successful, our students will need support from school and home.

Communication is vital to ensure a successful home-school partnership, so please feel free to contact our office at (847) 963-5100 if my staff or I can be of assistance. When school begins, every week you will receive an email from me that includes important information about Central Road. I am excited to begin the new school year and look forward to seeing you soon.
