St Jerome's Newsletter
Week 7, Term 4 (Thursday 22 November 2018)
Dear Parents and members of our school community
Pre-Primary Block Nativity
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - 7 PM, WEDNESDAY 28 NOVEMBER
We will have two vacant positions on the Board for 2019.
Please consider nominating for a position on the School Board as this is a great opportunity to give back to the community and be involved in the school at a high level.
The P&F are also calling upon nominations for a new committee next year.
Please consider nominating yourself for a position in the executive or general committee. This hands on committee provides you with the opportunity to be involved in organising community events and raising funds for resources for our children.
Parents or community members who wish to nominate themselves are asked to fill out the forms below and return them to the office.
We would love to have more parents than staff on Wednesday 28 November. Come and learn all the news plus enjoy a lovely supper.

Primary Catholic Youth Summit
Last Friday nine lucky Year 5 students were selected to attend the Primary Catholic Youth Summit 2018 held at Chisholm Catholic College along with several Catholic Schools in the metropolitan area.
The day started with listening to David Castelanelli, the WA Youth Ambassador speaking to the the children about being, “The One” and that we need others in our lives to help us build each other up to lead and reflect the strength which Jesus showed.
We spent the middle of the day with the women from “Standing Strong” teaching us ways to be motivational by dancing and even meditating.
After a yummy lunch provided by Chisholm College, we listened to a presentation from Rick Ardon (of Channel 7 news) who spoke about being a follower of Jesus and doing in life, as Jesus would do.
It was an inspirational day for us and despite the heat, we enjoyed every moment.
Kapture Photography - Reminder
We have been advised by Kapture Photography that all sports and/or special team photos taken this year will be removed from their website at the close of Term 4. This is your last chance to view and purchase these photographs. Please visit www.kapture.com.au and access the gallery using our school code; 62CVKT. This code can also be used to purchase class or individual photographs should you have not ordered earlier in the year.
2019 Booklists
The 2019 Requirements List was sent home last week with all Pre Primary to Year 5 students. Students currently in Kindy will receive their list at the orientation evening later this month. These lists have details of the stationery needs for 2019. By ordering online before Friday 4 January 2019 you will ensure delivery prior to school commencing.
Ordering your 2019 Requirements List through West School Supplies, your school’s preferred supplier, ensures your child receives the correct items as chosen by your school for the 2019 curriculum. By placing your order using any of the easy home delivery options you will also assist in raising additional funds for your school plus you’ll receive a $15 Shoes and Sox voucher to spend at participating stores.
The Requirements Lists are also available on the website. Thank you for your support.
PLEASE NOTE:
Parents need to select the "exact" School Year option listed in bold eg. PRE-PRIMARY on their requirements list when ordering online. There are some options eg Pre-Primary 1, Pre Primary 2 that are not applicable to our school.
Free Dress Day tomorrow
We will be holding our final Free Dress day for the year and it will be in support of our Parish. The Student Councillors have chose the theme of MEMES. A meme is a picture or image that sends a message. Children in the upper school who are more familiar with memes are either dressing up as a meme or printing one on paper and attaching it to their clothes. Of course it goes without saying that any meme chosen must be positive and respectful.
Children in the lower years are welcome to come in just suitable play clothes if they prefer. All families participating are asked to donate a gold coin per family.
Remember - Carols Night next Friday starting at 6pm
Safety concerns regarding use of school Playground equipment before or after school.
May I remind all parents that children are not permitted to play on the playground equipment in any area of the school (Kindy, Pre Primary, Year One or the main oval) either before or after school, even if their parents are with them. This is a serious safety concern and we ask that all parents support us with this matter.

INTER SCHOOL ATHLETICS WRAP UP 2018
Monday November 12 and Tuesday November 13 were Day 1 and 2 of the CPSSA Interschool Athletics Carnivals.
45 competitors from St Jerome’s travelled to Santich Park on the Monday to participate in the jumps and throws and the 400m event.
St Jerome’s started the day with a bang, scoring at least 1 placement in every year level 3-6 in the 400m.
We then placed in Turbo Jav for year 3 girls, Long Jump for year 3 year girls and year 6 girls and Shot Put for year 4 boys and year 4 girls.
Overall as day one ended, St Jerome’s finished in 7th place.
Day two was 200m, sprints, relays and leader ball. 35 competitors set out for the park today. The day started with the 200m event. We were lucky enough to place in year 3 and 4 boys and year 5 and 6 girls.
Our sprints were next and we held places with year 3 girls and boys and the year 5 and 6 girls.
We had some unfortunate drops on the changes in the baton relay, but overall the relays were run well with all competitors trying their best.
St Jerome’s ended the carnival holding onto our fourth position from 2017. All competitors should be proud of their efforts as a team, to climb from seventh to fourth place is no easy task.
We had some champion medal winners also. Noah M in year 3 won Silver (runner up association champion boy) Olivia H in year 3 won Gold (champion association girl) and Ella M won silver (runner up association champion girl).
Well done to all competitors and thank you to Mrs Deeble and Mr Mc Clorey for your help in the bays. Thank you also to all the parents and caregivers that came down to spectate and support.
