If you work as a team, you can win.

Analysis of the Development of Theme

On the back of the book, Rodman Phibrick says, "Together, Max and Freak were unstoppable. Together, they were Freak the Mighty." At school, people in their class thought it was super weird how Freak rode on Max's shoulders. But by the end of class, they were the most popular kids in there. Max and Freak were just being themselves and people excepted them for it. At the end of the class, their classmates were chanting, "Freak the Mighty, Freak the Mighty!" I bet they had a sense of being on top of the world. It must have been fun. The author does a good job of presenting the theme to the reader. By having the brains of Freak and the size of Max mesh together. Creating the ultimate team to figure out mysteries and solve many other problems. For example, when they try to get Loretta Lee's purse out of the sewer. Freak figures out a way to get the purse out. But Max's physical strengths actually got it out.

Reflection and Application of Theme

My reaction to this theme was very positive. It is very heartwarming. I agree with it entirely. The theme influenced me as a person to be as nice to people as possible. I think that the author was very successful in providing this theme to the reader. I think our world could be more of a perfect place. If only everyone worked together. But many people think that they are better off on their own. Rodman Philbrick did a very good job developing the theme throughout the book. He made little kinks in Freak the Mighty plans so that they could find ways to fix them as a team. I think that my theme is accurate because throughout the entire book, Max and Freak are constantly working together to do good things. With Freak coming up with the ideas and Freak actually taking them there and using his physical abilities in many different ways to help.

Some key points

Max was mentally disables. Freak was physically disabled. But when Freak got on top of Max's shoulders, they were Freak the Mighty. Together, they embark on many quests and adventures. They fo wahtever and go anywhere their imaginations take them. But they get into a little bit of trouble along the way. Killer Kane (Max's father) escapes for prison.
