"Though Common Core math problems may look complex, math itself hasn’t changed. One plus one is still two. What has shifted is the way schools teach math under many states’ new college- and career-readiness standards. To prepare students for an increasingly technical world, many teachers are working to strengthen students’ deep math knowledge—how, where, and why math ideas fit together. How can you support that work at home? Here are six dos and don’ts..."

Parent Positive Series: Understanding Childhood Brain Development - 2/1/2017
Dear Families,
Parent Positive is proud to welcome Dr. Jay Stone, PsyD - presenting on Wednesday, February 1st at 7:00 PM in the Lenape Middle School Auditorium. His talk will focus on: Understanding Childhood Brain Development: How to Unlock Potential.
Join James J. Stone, PsyD, Doylestown Health neuropsychologist, to learn tools and strategies to help nurture and maximize your child’s potential. The presentation is designed to help parents understand how their child’s brain processes information at different ages, how skill sets evolve developmentally, and how to translate that knowledge into appropriate expectations of their child. Parents will leave with strategies to empower their child to complete tasks at hand, and an understanding of when to encourage them to try on their own, and when to step in and help.
Registration for this free event is encouraged, but not required.
Babysitting is available for children in grades K - 6 and will be provided by CB High School National Honor Society and Key Club students. Drop-off for babysitting will begin at 6:30pm and pick-up will immediately follow the program. Please share the ages of children for which you would like to have babysitting. If babysitting service is needed, pre-registration is required.
