CGB Elementary News
December 2, 2022
I am also humbled by the work our teachers and paraprofessionals do each day. I see the countless little things that our teachers do to help prepare students academically, emotionally, and socially. Each and every day they make students and learning a priority and sacrifice so much to do what is best.
One exciting upcoming event is our Winter Music Program scheduled for December 13th at 6:30pm. Parents and community are welcome to attend. We are certainly excited to see another example of our awesome students.
Enjoy the holiday season as winter break begins on Friday, December 23rd.

ADSIS Goals and Information
Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services (ADSIS) is an application process for districts and charter schools to apply for state special education aid. The purpose of ADSIS is to provide instruction to assist students who need additional academic or behavioral support to succeed in the general education environment. The goal is to reduce the number of inappropriate referrals to special education by providing proactive instructional support early to struggling students. Districts are expected to align the ADSIS program within their existing continuum of supports, collect data as specified in the application and submit evaluation information to the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) each year to determine program Impact.
Jean Costello is our lead teacher for this intervention program at CGB. We are fortunate to have an ADSIS program and Mrs. Costello to lead this important service for many of our students.

Social Worker News
Hello! I am Mrs. Sigler. This is my first year as the school social worker at CGB and it has been so much fun so far. I have loved getting to know all of the students and learning more about them. As a social worker, my role is to support students' mental health and academic success. I can do this by meeting with them individually, running groups, or presenting to the whole class. I am also here to help connect students and their families to any outside resources they may need.
This month, I've been busy meeting with students individually - working on anxiety, anger management, and so much more. Lunch Bunch happens on Mondays and Fridays, where a group of students is invited to have a small group lunch with me and work on their social and conversational skills. The 2nd grade girls have started a group on friendship and next week several students from grades 3-5 will start a learning adventure to gain executive functioning skills (like organization and planning). This past week, I've also been visiting classrooms talking about how every family is different, but that's what makes us so interesting!
As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any concerns about your student or questions about what I can help with!
You can also see Mrs. Sigler's website that she created as a great resource to students and families.

Looking for prizes
For December the following big prizes are:
- Sporing pass that includes a free treat from concessions
- School Store item - some clothing and t shirts available
- 10 extra minutes of recess for the entire class
- Bowling pass - thank you Carl!
We are certainly not in desperate need of prizes but many businesses or community members enjoy giving some prizes. So if there is interest in donating prizes it would be appreciated. We are considering one business each month for some small prize. Kids are really enjoying the drawings.
