Art Teacher Mrs. Welsh and second grade teacher Mrs. Ruff received an Artist in Education residency grant from Young Audiences of NJ and PA. This was their third consecutive residency at WCB with artist Maryling Keating, who students refer to as, "MK".
Mrs. Ruff and Perrone's second grade class and Mrs. Arevalo's bilingual second grade students were the core group of students working together with the artist to create a mixed media mural that was installed at the Walter C. Black Elementary School. The mural project focused on celebrating cultural diversity. The residency began January 11 2023, and was completed at the beginning of April.

Perry L. Drew Elementary School fourth and fifth-grade students Alexis Ardon (4th), Gabriella Figueiredo (5th), and Jenaya Phalante (4th) - provided artwork for the district visual and performing arts office. Their artwork beautifies our VPA Central Office and is very much appreciated. Kudos to Mr. Roselle for creating an educationally enriching artistic space that allows for these talented young artists to flourish.
Mr. Daniels, Superintendent of Schools, was a mystery reader in Ms. Wherley's class at Perry L. Drew Elementary School.
