We are very fortunate to have such an effective and dedicated school board.
Please join us in thanking Mr. Alex Davis, Ms. Rebecca Gallogly, Dr. Gil Mendoza, Mrs. Sherman
and Mr. Cole Roberts for all their hard work to make our schools the best they can be.

OVER A THOUSAND FOOD DRIVE ITEMS COLLECTED!
Thank You to All Our Wildcat Families.
Your food drive donations helped Central Avenue collect OVER A 1000 FOOD ITEMS.

We appreciate your caring support.
2019 Computer Science Education Week
The 2019 Computer Science Education Week was December 9-15. We have been coding at Central Avenue since the second week of December when we participated in the Hour of Code, a global event held during Computer Science week. All students K-5 experienced the basic principles of coding and had a fantastic time.
To continue our discovery, morning workshops will be offered with interactive, hands-on activities, using tutorials from code.org for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students.
Dates: Tuesday and Thursday mornings, starting January 7; continuing until February 13.
( January 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30, and February 4, 6, 11, 13)
Time: 8:30 AM to 9:15 AM; students will go directly to breakfast/class
Students may be dropped off in front of the school and walk down the east side breezeway. **Do not drop off or park in the east parking lot (portable side) due to deliveries made in the morning.

End of Day Student Transportation Changes
Just a reminder to please call the school before 3:30 pm and
on early release days please call before 1:30 pm
when your child's end of day schedule needs to be changed.
This allows us time to notify your child's teacher and your child
of the change for a smooth end of day transition.
Please call our office at 253-298-3200 to report end of day changes.
Immunizations and Attendance
December was brutal with illnesses for our students! Please ensure you are up to date with immunizations. Notices have been issued and we will be taking steps to ensure all immunization records are in compliance for the health of our students. Please contact Susan Keenan at skeenan@fpschools.org if you are unsure of your child's status or if you have received a letter from us seeking your response about missing documentation.
Good attendance contributes to successful students, but this year we have some very important new procedures, which need to be followed:
1. Good attendance is to miss 9 or fewer days per year (average one per month).
2. After 7 absences, we will require third party documentations (doctor notes, dentist
appt, court hearing, etc.) to excuse the absence. Please get in the habit of getting a
note for any appointments, even before you hit that threshold.
3. We will contact you for a conference if your child has 3 unexcused absences, or 5
absences in a month (excused or unexcused.)
4. Chronic absenteeism is more than 18 days in a school year.
I want to encourage all our Wildcats to be at school ON TIME, EVERY DAY, ALL DAY!
**Please contact the attendance line at 253-298-3200, if your student is going to be late or absent from school.
VOLUNTEERS!! We Need You
Volunteers!
Volunteer Approval is Necessary– Prior to attending any school event as a chaperone, participant, or helper, all adults must have a new approved volunteer clearance on file in our office. There will be no exceptions to this requirement. You must register online at www.fpschools.org. If you have a problem with the registration process, please call Ms. Lynn at 253-298-3205.
