Classroom Updates
In October we learned letters M, A, and S. We also learned some new sight words too along the way like “the”, “we”, and “see.” We also finished our first math unit! Our students have learned how to count objects, ask questions about how many, and write numerals 0-10. This month in kindergarten we continue to work through our Wonders Curriculum! We will be getting into our Unit 2 which is about tools we can use to explore, shapes around us, and bugs! We will learn two new letters P and T. We will also add two new sight words “a” and “like.” Also, in November we will also get into a new math module where students will learn all about two- and three-dimensional shapes. We will also keep practicing our illustration unit and building confidence in their drawings. The students are all working so hard! We can’t wait to continue and watching them grow! | Hello first grade families! This month we will begin a new module in math where we will be learning about addition and subtraction relationships. In reading, we will continue to work on improving our reading fluency by learning the first 100 sight words and learning new phonics and spelling rules. It is important that your child is reading at home every night. Reading practice pages are sent home each week along with our newsletter. In writing, we will be talking about and writing about all the things we are thankful for. | Second grade has begun unit 2 in our reading curriculum. We will be focusing on main idea, problem and solution, as well as beginning, middle, and end. In writing we will be doing expository writing about animals. For math we will continue to look at place value and the different way to model numbers. We will finish up social studies on goods and services and then move into science exploring plants, animals, and their habitats. |

Keep working on those multiplication facts. In reading we will be working on the author’s point of view, identifying the theme in a story, and main idea and details. In grammar, we will also be learning how to combine sentences, possessive nouns, and action verbs. The genres we will be studying are poetry, historical fiction, and expository (information text). We are finishing up our unit on economics and then we will be learning about life cycles in Science. | Hello 4th grade families! A note from Nurse Janice!
As we begin a new school year, please see below for health information from your school nurse.
The health of your child matters!
WHEN TO KEEP YOUR STUDENT HOME FROM SCHOOL:
- When your child is so ill, they will not be able to engage and learn while at school.
- A temperature of 100.4 or higher. Students with a temperature of 100.4 or higher should stay home until they have gone at least 24 hours fever free without the aid of fever-reducing medication (such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen.)
- Vomiting. Students who have vomited should stay home until they have gone 24 hours without vomiting without the aid of medication.
COVID
- If your child tests positive for COVID, or if any member of your immediate household tests positive for COVID, please reach out to your school nurse.
- If your child is exposed to someone who is positive for COVID outside your immediate household, please reach out to your school nurse.
Your school nurse will guide you through the current guidance and expectations (Phone:719-382-1370)
HEALTH OFFICE VISITS/BLUE NOTES
- Students occasionally visit the health office for minor complaints and injuries. For these non-emergent health office visits, you will receive an automated dialer from the district (after school hours) notifying you that your child was seen in the health office. Your child should also bring home a health office 'blue note' from the school that shares some details of the health office visit.
- Parents will be contacted by the school nurse for any health office visit which would require the child to be picked up early from school, for any visits that require follow up medical care outside the school setting, or for any injuries that might require follow up by the parent once the child gets home from school.
