Dear 3rd-5th Grade Anderson Families-

The Anderson PE department has been asked by the Chicago Bears to test-out a youth fitness challenge for grades 3-5. Each student was given a log sheet and a FREE water bottle. For this challenge, students are being asked to try the best to do the following:

· Complete 60 minutes of exercise a day (try to include cardio, strength, and flexibility exercises) Time spent in PE and Recess count towards the 60 minutes!

· Make a healthy food choice of fruits and/or vegetables

· Drink water

· Complete the challenge 4-7 days in a week

If your student does that during the day, then they have completed the challenge for that day! For each week the challenge is completed, your student will get a different Bears certificate. Once all 4 weeks are completed, your student will be given a FREE Bears Fit Youth Challenge t-shirt!

If you have any questions, please reach out to the PE teachers: Mr. Smith (Daniel.smith@d303.org) or Mrs. Spelic (Laura.spelic@d303.org). We hope that this is a fun and motivating way for your student to be more aware of healthful choices!

The peak of the cold and flu season is upon us!

Recently, the nurses in District 303 have been caring for a number of students experiencing fevers and other cold-like symptoms. We are also aware that some students are absent from school because they have been diagnosed with the flu and other influenza-like symptoms. During the months of October through April, each school in District 303 tracks influenza activity in cooperation with the Kane County Health Department. We consult with their staff to determine whether influenza activity in a school warrant additional follow up and, at this time, no additional interventions are needed. Preventative measures remain the most effective way to reduce the spread of influenza.

Click Here to read about more ways to help prevent getting and spreading the flu.

MIDDLE SCHOOL TRANSFER REQUESTS (5th Grade Parents)

Families who wish to submit Middle School Transfer requests may do so beginning February 3. The request form will be available on the District 303 website through February 28. Families must complete a separate form for each student they want to be transferred. Requests are granted based on space available so siblings are not guaranteed placement. A written decision will be communicated to families before spring break.

Once the request is approved, a student may remain at that middle school throughout his or her middle school career, as long as the student resides in District 303.

Families of students granted permission to attend a school outside of their assigned attendance are responsible for their own transportation.

Students will return to their assigned attendance area high school regardless of the middle school attended.

Foxes Family Fun HELP NEEDED!

This year we are changing things up. Instead of the family dance, on February 21st, we will have Foxes Family Fun night. We had our first planning meeting and came up with a lot of fun activities including dancing, karaoke, BINGO, board games, snacks, photo booth, cake walk, sac races, ball toss, and face painting. We are in need of some help and a few things for this event. We are looking for a karaoke machine. If anyone has one we can borrow it would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone knows a good (not expensive) DJ we could use please send us their information. Finally, if you missed our planning meeting and are interested in helping with any of the activities above please contact us at ptosecretary.andersonfoxes@gmail.com.

Yearbook Pictures Needed!

We need your help to make our yearbook great this year! Please send photos to: yearbook.andersonfoxes@gmail.com as soon as possible.
