From the Principal...
Dear Oakwood Parents,
It is hard to believe that we are in the last six weeks of the school year. In these last six weeks we will continue our focus on academic excellence. We will have 6th grade STAAR testing on Tuesday 4-22-14 and Wednesday 4-23-14 and 5th grade STAAR testing on Thursday 4-24-14. After STAAR testing we will shift our focus on preparing student for the next school year.
At the end of the school year we will set aside time for field day activities for the student and teachers to celebrate their accomplishments and achievements of the school year. Please continued to stay tuned to your email and social media for the different dates of activities that will end the school year. Thank you for your continued support of your child and their education.
Have an Outstanding Oakwood Day,
Jeff Mann

PTO "No Frills" Fundraiser Update
Please Participate in the Oakwood Food Drive April 28 - May 2
CSISD Food Drive will be held the week of April 28th- May 2nd. All proceeds benefit the Brazos Valley Food Bank. Oakwood’s theme is “Freeze Out Hunger”. Our school wide goal is $1000/5000 lbs. ($1 = 5 lbs.) **Cash is preferred over actual food, because the food bank can make more use of donated cash. If we meet this goal, every team will earn an extra recess with popsicles. Each day we will have a dress up theme: (You don’t need to bring money or food to participate in dress up days Monday – Thursday. However, you must bring at least $1 or a food item in order to wear a hat on Friday.)
Monday: “Reverse Hunger” – Backwards Day
Tuesday: “Hunger’s No Match For Us” – Twin Day
Wednesday: “Team Up Against Hunger” – Favorite Team/Jersey Day
Thursday: “Knock the Socks Off Hunger” – Crazy Sock Day
Friday: “Put a Cap on Hunger” – Hat Day (already a scheduled hat day)
Please help us “Freeze Out Hunger”! We will be collecting cash and cans before school in both the carpool and bus drop off lanes. Thanks for your support!
Save the date May 1 for Oakwood Spirit Night at Chick Fil A, South College Station location
Also, at the Spirit night we will be collecting food and cash for our "Freeze Out Hunger" food drive. Chick Fil A will give free ice cream to anyone who brings canned goods or money for the food drive that evening.
Come eat chicken and support Oakwood!

Update from Book Fair
Thank you parents and guardians for making the Oakwood Spring Book Fair a success. Our total sales were over $8,300! We would also like to thank Mrs. McDowell and Ms. Wilson for their hard work and dedication to our school. And, a big thank you to our volunteers. Our success would not be possible without your support!

Update from Staff Appreciation Committee
Thank you so much to all the parents that have helped provide food for our staff. This spring we have done our annual soup day which was a huge hit! We have served breakfast, had yummy treats and are gearing up for a great staff appreciation week! Thank you to Panera bread for offering breakfast items and to Outback for offering to cater lunch that week! We have continued to bring sonic drinks for the staff during their birthday month as well as given giftcard giveaways at staff meetings. Thank you all again for helping make our Oakwood staff feel appreciated!
Thank You Grand Station Entertainment, Bahama Bucks & Flip & Peel Burgers for supporting Pride Winners with coupons
Thank You for the Box Tops!!
A HUGE thank you to everyone for their participation in the Box Tops Collection Contest. In 5 days, we collected over 6,000 box tops! For every 10, tiny Box Tops we collect, Oakwood earns $1! It’s that simple! The team that collected the most Box Tops, earning an extra recess, was the Cougar Team. Even though the contest is officially over, please continue to send in your Box Tops! We collect year round!
