School Updates

It seems as if Governor Brown, OHA, and ODE, will make a revision to Ready Schools, Safe Learners, and the metrics for schools, in the coming week. Be assured that the NCCS board and administration are paying attention to all the lastest updates and making decisions based on the guidelines. If there are any changes to our school plans, we will communicate those as soon as those are decided.

Remote Learning in Action!

Fall Sport Opportunities Continue into November!

*October 26-29 - Additional Academy Week - no additional fee and each sport (volleyball and soccer) will have 2 days

*Nov. 2-6, 9-13 & 16-20 - Volleyball Training Groups (V.T.G.’s for HS and JH): See details below regarding this opportunity.

*Starting Nov. 30 and running up to Christmas Break - Basketball open gyms!

ANNOUNCING A FUN STUDENT SPORTS ACTIVITY!

The next sports opportunity at NCCS - V.T.G.’s - begins November 2nd! V.T.G.’s are Volleyball Training Groups and they will be rocking our gym the first 3 weeks of November with both JH and HS boys and girls all having the chance to serve, dig, set and spike.

Volleyball in Oregon is a girl’s only sport but that doesn’t stop us from inviting boys to assist in training. Mixed groups of 8-10 students will have 2-3 training sessions per week. Sessions will include both skill work and scrimmage time. These sessions will provide opportunities for all participants to improve their volleyball skills, get exercise and have social interaction. You don't have to know how to play or be on the team, just come out for some fun with your peers!

All interested participants must register by October 30th. After the coaches have the list of participants, they will divide the registrants into 8-10 person training groups (JH and HS will be separated). Each person will work with just their group for one week and then will be shuffled around to work out with a different training group the next week. The V.T.G.’s will wrap up with a 4 v 4 tournament prior to Thanksgiving break. Cost for the 3 week session is just $30.

To register a child who participated in our fall sports academy, please fill out this short registration form - V.T.G. Registration.

To register a child who did not participate in our fall sports academy, please register here - NCCS Athletic Registration.

Feel free to email any questions you may have to sports@ncchristianschool.com.

School Picture Days

We have rescheduled school pictures for November 3, 4, and 6. A schedule and ordering information has been shared from our office in a direct email. Students in grades 4-12 will need to sign up for a time for pictures on a designated date. If you ordered pictures from Lifetouch already for this school year, those will apply for our new dates. The link to order pictures is below. If a paper order form is needed, rather than online ordering, please stop by the office.

Educational Travel Opportunity

We are still hopeful that our spring tour (Spain, Italy, and France) will take place. At this time we have space available in the group for high school-aged students and adults. Check out the details if interested: www.eftours.com/2286567zy

EF’s (our tour company) number one priority from day one is safety, and continues to be so. They are working hard on restructuring all aspects of our tour to make sure our travelers are safe for travel. Additionally, their Peace of Mind policy takes away the worry of cancellations or needing to reschedule for reasons related to COVID.

Questions should be directed to Mrs. James (sherri_james@ncchristianschool.com), who is serving as the Tour Leader for this international educational opportunity.

Attention Parents:

Please be aware that NCCS does not allow costumes, either on site or during remote classes. Additionally, we ask that you assist us with all matters pertaining to our student expectations for appearance. This includes following the stated handbook guidelines/rules as it relates to piercings, hair, and clothing choices. See these guidelines outlined in the attachment below.
NCCS Expectations for Appearance

When students are participating in school activities, remote learning (during class time) or in person on campus, the expectations for appearance must be followed. Please review this document with your child in support of these expectations.

FUNDRAISING and VOLUNTEER EFFORTS

Willamette Valley Pie Sale

It’s that time of year again for our annual Pie Sale Fundraiser! It’s a great way to purchase something you may need for the holidays and support our school. We will be collecting orders for the next three weeks and the deadline to submit is Friday, October 30th. Please fill out the attached form and mail it back to the school with a check (made out to NCCS), or drop it off in the office during our office hours (M-F, 8am-4pm). Pie delivery/pick up at the school will be on Nov. 17.

Fundraising Committee-Seeking Volunteers!

Every year our school relies on several important Fund Raising Events to supplement our Annual Budget and we are reliant on the hard work and dedication of our parent volunteers.

This year we would like to create a general "Fundraising Committee" and then it’s members will be assigned to specific events. The biggest need will be those assigned to our Auction Committee and most importantly a skilled volunteer that can take the lead position of Auction Coordinator. There are various positions within this committee that require a range of commitment, so all are welcome!

If you are interested please contact, Emily Clark, Business Manager: Emily_clark@ncchristianschool.com
