Top Ten Tips When Attending Edcamps:
Be prepared!
Fully charge your devices the night before the event & bring multiple devices (in case one depletes its battery)
Bring a wall charger or battery pack
Take the lead in your PD
Everyone can share a session! Talk to attendees about facilitating a conversation
Flex your growth mindset & use the “law of two feet” to find a session that meets your needs
Save resources!
Save the session board to your Google Drive (this is where session topics & docs will be posted day of the event)
Save links to explore later using a special bookmark folder, Pinterest board, or OneTab
Take notes
Collaboratively take notes on the session Google doc with others attending the same session (find the session doc link on the session board)
Utilize headers in your own Google Doc to create a Table of Contents
Connect with colleagues & continue the conversation
Use Twitter! Start by following @edcampNJ, #edcampNJ & #edcampNJ16, then follow attendees (already a Twitter user? Use TweetDeck)
- Continue the convo at the after-edcamp social hour!

Google Classroom Office Hours
Coming up next week, Kim will be offering "office hours" focusing on Google Classroom.
Why "office hours"? Teachers are busy and don't always have time for a formal appointment or availability to attend a formal PD session. Office hours offer teachers the flexibility to come when you can, stay for as long as you need, and get out of it what you want for that specific topic.
- Date: Thursday, November 3
- Time: 8:45 - 2:50
- Where: Media Center office
- Who should attend: Anyone! Come to join the HSS Google Classroom, learn more about Classroom and its features, troubleshoot issues, address questions or share success stories.
