Feel the Luck & Love
We spread love and kindess throughout the month of February. Lunch groups began as we pulled various students to eat with us and find some extra TLC in the school day to talk and share. We have spent time on working with some students to develop social skills, communicate better within groups and identify the needs of others. This month, write a letter to your child to convey your love and admiration for strengths as all children appreciate positive affirmations. We are very lucky to be in a free country. Please focus your attention on teaching your child about what is going on in the world, to be grateful for what we have and to reach out to others in need.
SNOW MUCH FUN!
HEALTH CLASS
Mrs. Arivella has met with Homerooms 11, 12, 17 and has now started teaching Mrs. Medina's class. Grades for Health for Rm. 17 will be posted for Term 2 in March and Rm. 10 will be posted on the final report card in June. The students will be learning about frenemies, self esteem, the effect of vaping, first aid and CPR and puberty. This is a great time to have conversations about growing up and many challenges and positive experiences that adolescents will face. Please check your child's Health Google Classroom for more information.
Friendship Soup Lesson
Girls from Mrs. Maggiacomo's class and Mrs. Malo's class joined us for a quick lesson on how to be a good friend.
The Recipe
3 cups trust, zero jealousy, 2 cups on honesty, 1 cup kindness, 3 drops of understanding, take out 1/4 cup bossiness, 1 bit of solvable disagreements, a handful of silliness and 1/2 cup of fun, sporty activities
Mix it up!
The girls mixed it up with different personalities to be able to work together to understand that friendships take two and although twice the work, it's worth it in the end.
Watch this video- it is a great example of passing on kindness and showing empathy
