HELLO HEARTLAND

We are so thankful for all of you who have used our Library site to find fun and engaging books, games, manipulatives and instruments over this last year and all the through the summer. Thank so much to our amazing Heartland families who have been flexible and patient as we are figured out how to best serve you during this time.

Our Library is still ONLINE ONLY. We cannot allow for families to shop through our rooms.

Our Office Hours for pick up and drop offs of library items as well as curriculum returns are: 8:30am-12:30pm Monday through Friday.

HOW DOES THE LIBRARY WORK?

Each Heartland student is allowed to check out 10 items at a time for 90 days at a time.

If you are getting close to the due date and would like to keep it longer, you may renew each item for another 90 days. Email Library@heartlandcharterschool.com to request a renewal

* Specific items are allowed to be checked out for a full year (no renewal).

Those items are: Instruments, Office Supplies, Sewing Machines, Microscopes, Pottery Wheels, telescopes.


Once you have "reserved" the items you want the Bakersfield office will pull the items for you and contact you when the items are ready to be picked up.

HOW DO I SET UP MY STUDENTS LIBRARY ACCOUNT?

Note: If you have multiple students, each student will have their own account and you will need to repeat the following steps for each one.


1) Go to the New Library Website HERE also titled https://heartlandcharterschool.mlasolutions.com/


2) Select "Sign In"


3) Login: Type in your student ID #

(that 5 digit number can be found attached to your students name on procurify or you can reach out to your HST)

Do Not Enter Password the FIRST TIME


4) Once logged in, click on "My Account"


5) Click "Change Login/ Password" - There you can create a password for your student


Your Students LOCAL ID will be the username moving forward so make sure you have that info saved somewhere.

HOW DO I HOLD A BOOK OR ITEM?

1) Find an item that you would like to check out through the search button, visual search buttons, or recommended reading lists.

2) Click on the Title of the book or item you would like to reserve

3) Click on a box next to one of the items and then click the Reserve Button and the item is automatically put on hold for you

* If the title says "0 out of _" then no book is available at this time but you have a chance to click on the "reserve" button and you will be placed on a wait list for the item.

*Only 2 people can be on the wait list at a time for 1 item.

* If you wish to cancel a "hold" or "reserve", click on "my account" at the top of the screen, and scroll down to your list of items and cancel the item..

5) Your student is allowed to have in their possession, 10 items at a time for 90 days.

HOW DO I PICK UP MY LIBRARY ITEMS AFTER I HAVE REQUESTED THEM ONLINE?

Once the order in Bakersfield is ready, you will receive a phone call or email from your librarian to let you know your item is available to be picked up.

Our office hours are 8:30am-12:30pm for pick ups and drop offs.

If you are not in the Bakersfield area, our librarian will contact you to confirm you want your items shipped and we will send it out to you at no cost!

HOW DO I RETURN MY LIBRARY ITEMS?

When you are ready to return items or the due date is coming up on your library items:

Office hours are 8:30am-12:30pm Monday Through Friday

If an afternoon appt. works better for you please email library@heartlandcharterschool.com to schedule an afternoon drop off.


If you live outside of the Bakersfield area and need to ship your items back to the Bakersfield library please fill out this Library Return Label Request Form to ship the items back to the Bakersfield Office.


You will receive an email reminding you of books/items that will be overdue to remind you to return your order to your library as soon as possible

Is there an OVER DUE POLICY? Yes, Yes there is!

Library Policy for Overdue Items:


Each student is given 10 items at a time for 90 days at a time.

Students are allowed to renew each item for another 90 days if they would like.


If a student does not return those items after the 180 days check out period, the Librarian will contact each family directly to coordinate a drop off.


Once the student has been directly contacted by the Librarian they will be given a 10 day grace period to return the items . If the items are not returned after that 10 day window:

  1. The students' Procurify account will be blocked from ordering items until those library items are returned.

  2. The Student will be charged a late fee of $1 per item per week.

ie: 10 items at $1 per item = $10 Weekly Fee until the items are returned

The late fees will be deducted from student planning amounts.



If the student does not return the items by the end of the school year, the family will be charged for the cost of the items.

IF I DO NOT LIVE NEAR BAKERSFIELD, CAN MY ITEMS BE SHIPPED?

We are now offering FREE SHIPPING!

Shipping is an available option if you are not in the Bakersfield area.


We will contact you once the order is ready to be sent with the tracking number of your shipment!

WHAT'S AVAILABLE ON THE SITE?


  • Feel free to put the Title/Subject/Author of the books or items you are looking for in the "search bar" or click the "Anywhere" button on the left to select your specific search option. You can get even more specific by clicking "Enhanced Search"
  • You can find the Heartland Charter School Website and our Pricing Sheet to purchase Discounted Curriculum Materials
  • Stay connected with our Updated Library Flyer/"Smore" giving dates and new information on the library
  • Click on "Kids Catalog" on the top right to allow your kids to explore our site in a fun kid friendly way that will attract young library users and make their searches fun. Please note that they cannot check out books from this site but, kids can find what books might be available and add them to the book bag so parents know what the child would like to check out for them on the official site. They can click on authors name and see all of the items we have available under that author.
  • You can also click on the Virtual Bookshelves button for books and items in individual categories.
  • Find Recommended Reading Books listed
  • And check out our "Tips & Info" to stay updated on changes
  • If you need any help feel free to scroll to the bottom to "Contact Librarian"
  • Side note: We are not checking out CURRICULUM at this time so you will not find those items on the site.

LOOKING FOR SOMETHING?

We are hard at work adding books, games, puzzles everyday to the new library website but we do not want you to have to wait for something you may be looking for. We have uploaded some images of our shelves that have items that may or MAY NOT be on our library website yet. If you see something you are interested in checking out, please feel free to email your local librarian (see emails below) to request that item and if we still have it in our inventory, we will gladly check the item out to your student and schedule a time for you to pick it up . This will be on a first come first serve basis. So the item may have already been checked out when you request it. Please note the location of the library below the picture and pick the library in your immediate area or shipping charges may apply. Thanks again for your patience.

NEED TO RETURN CURRICULUM ITEMS ?

All families and HST's are welcome to drop off their curriculum returns ( items that have been purchased with student planning amounts). All returns are required to have a return form filled out ahead of time with an itemized list of everything you are returning. The reconciliation team only goes off of what is filled out on the form when they are updating your student inventory list. If your list is not itemized your student may not have these items taken off their inventory so please be detailed.
