Nurse's News

January 2023

Reminders

Referrals

All referrals for school health screenings have been sent home. If you have received a referral for vision, hearing, acanthosis nigricans and/or scoliosis please review them, have your student seen by the physician and return the completed referral to the school nurse.

We are required to track all referrals sent and I will begin following up on all non-returned referrals in January. The break from school is a great time to make those appointments!

Field Trips

If your student will be going on a field trip AND has emergency medicaiton in the clinic such as an inhaler, epinephrine, benadryl, seizure medication or daily medication please be sure to read and completely fill out the additional permission page for off campus medications sent with the class permission slips and return to the nurse at least one week prior to the trip. No clinic medication can be sent on the trip without this permission. Please feel free to call the nurse with questions.

Medication at School

All medication must be dropped off and picked up by an adult. If possible please bring completed forms and medication at the same time. Please also note, all medication being dropped off must be given directly to the nurse and parents must sign off on amount delivered. Thank you!
Medication Authorization and Permission Form

Each medication requires its own form. Please use the Humble ISD Health Forms Link above for Asthma, Food Allergy, Diabetes, Seizure and Adrenal Insufficiency Packets!

Texas Mental Health Creative Arts Contest: Deadline March 15, 2023

The Texas Mental Health Creative Arts Contest shines a light on an often-overlooked topic and shows why mental health matters. To educate people about how common mental illnesses are and to encourage Texans to seek help when they need it, our yearly themes reflect the move toward treating mental illness with the same openness as other illnesses.

This contest is held by Texas System of Care, Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health at the University of Texas at Austin, and Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
