January 2022
Message from the President
Hello Neighbours and Happy New Year! Your Community League has been hard at work since the 2021 AGM in October – albeit in a virtual setting – where we elected a fantastic group of leaders that are passionate about delivering programs and special events to our members as well as addressing pressing challenges that face our neighbourhood.
As we start a new year, I do want to take a moment to remind motorists in our community to take extra care when driving around A. Blair McPherson School during peak hours. I know firsthand how congested it can get during drop off and pick up times, but the safety of our children is a very important and shared responsibility.
I hope that many families were able to take in our Santa Parade in December. This was a very small yet very well received event and we are hoping to deliver an even larger parade next December. The new year also brings with it a new Fulton Meadows Community League website. Our redesigned site has an added membership application feature that will allow our residents to apply/reapply for membership online directly through us and plans are currently underway to add an online payment option in the very near future.
We are also very happy that, as of January 7, Community League Swim Night has resumed at the Meadows Rec Centre. Our swim night occurs every Friday from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Space is limited and please don’t forget to take your membership card with you.
Our League is already busy planning various programs and events for 2022. If there is an event/program that you would like us to deliver, please reach out. We are always looking for more members to get involved and the simplest way to do that is to connect with us either through our website or through social media. We also welcome all members to join us for our monthly board meetings. These meetings typically take place on the second Wednesday of each month and remain virtual currently. If you are interested in attending, please contact us at info@fultonmeadows.org or send us a message on Facebook.

Local Business Feature | Crumb and Cookie Co.
Sonia has lived in Maple crest for two and a half years and her cookies are amazing. If you haven't tried them, we 100% recommend supporting Sonia's venture. Our team reached out to chat with Sonia about her business.
Q: How did your cookie business get started?
A: I’ve always loved baking and I would bake for family, friends, and our church community but it never felt like the “right time” to start something from home. After the pandemic hit and not being able to go back to work, I knew it was now or never so Crumb and Cookie Co was born.
Q: What was your biggest challenge getting started?
A: Having the confidence to put one foot in front of the other and try something new. I’m not one to venture out of my comfort zone easily. Also finding the balance to take on what works for my family and learning to say no, which is hard from someone like me! I don’t like letting people down.
Q: What would you tell someone who is interested in venturing out and starting their own business?
A: Take it one step at a time, there is a lot to learn and unfortunately most of it comes from trial and error.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration from for these amazing creations?
A: Lots of places! It's hard for me to look at anything these days without visualizing it on a cookie. Children’s clothing, books, my own imagination, sometimes inspirations from other bakers.
Q: What is your favourite cookie to make?
A: Anything with florals, those are my favourite. I will admit, I love doing all the girly cookies.
Q: Any upcoming promotions you would like to share with us?
A: Currently not right now but I do have some ideas that I’ve been thinking of that will be posted on my Facebook page in the near future.
Q: Where can we find information to order?
A: You can find me on Facebook Crumb and Cookie Co.
