News From The View

Skyview Upper Elementary School

From Mrs. Berical

Dear Families,

I hope you all had a wonderful and refreshing break. In this communication you will find a lot of important information regarding our Day of Service at Skyview as well as Career Day. Both days have opportunities for parent volunteers. In addition, we continue to welcome parent volunteers into our cafeteria as an extra set of hands during our 5th and 6th grade lunches. Please reach out to the Home and School if you are interested in any of the volunteering opportunities.

As we enter the month of December, our Skyview community will focus on using our best self control in all areas of Skyview. Please partner with us at home by reminding your child to demonstrate Pillarific behaviors by being responsible, respectful, trustworthy, caring, fair and a good citizen. Please ask your child how they have shown these characteristics in the hallways, classrooms, the cafeteria and at arrival and dismissal each day. We appreciate your partnership in helping your child demonstrate their best self!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Berical

Day of Service at Skyview

On December 21st, Skyview will hold their annual "Day of Service" for 5th and 6th graders. Students will learn about community organizations and how they help provide services to those in need. In addition, we will have guest readers from the district to read to our students. Skyview students will conclude the Day of Service by making cards for patients at Einstein Hospital!

Two Volunteers Needed: December 21st

Skyview is in need of two parent volunteers who hold clearances to help proofread the student made cards before they are sent to Einstein Hospital. Volunteers should email Larcena Johnson at lb594563@gmail.com if interested. The estimated time frame for this volunteer opportunity is from 12:00-2:00.

Cafeteria

If your child is getting a school breakfast or lunch, it is important that they have their student ID ready to use when they go through the cafeteria line. Having the ID ready speeds up the process of moving through the line. Please remind your child to bring their ID to school each day and to have it easily accessible at breakfast and lunch.

In addition, please remind your child that appropriate behavior is expected in the cafeteria. Manners such as saying please and thank you, throwing trash away and cleaning their space after they are finished eating is expected. We greatly appreciate you discussing these expectations with your child so that we can work together to provide a more pleasurable dining experience.
