Our January PD will have a focus on Math. Matt Lobban and Julie Crocket will be facilitating 2 hours of our PD to address improving numeracy. As we continue to implement our SIP plan we are seeking out researched based resources to grow professionally and improve student learning . At one of the recent District Math Committee meetings, Mr. Lobban shared some professional resources. I have purchased the books pictured. I will be sharing these books with our SIP Math committee to look at a possible book study.
REMINDER: DRA Assessment Window
The DRA Assessment window runs from January 11 - 22 and all students in Grades K - 4 will be assessed during the window. A few things to keep in mind:
- Subs will be provided this time;
- Due to the sub shortage, I will only approve days for one grade level at a time.
- Data is due to be entered before leaving on Friday, January 29th.
Please make sure that you complete a prearranged absence form prior to leaving for Christmas break. Also make sure that you mark the date of your grade level's testing on the big calendar! Thank you!
A few of the GREAT things that I noticed last week...
Blueberry Ambassadors were able to unveil the Buddy Bench at last week's school board meeting. Thank you Alexis, Leigh Anne, Linda, Tracy, and Ondrea for also being in attendance! Michelle Edwards included an article and video link in this week's Board Briefs as well!
We had a very successful Watch D.O.G.S launch last week. We had 75 positive male role models RSVP and ended up with close to 170 father figures and students at our launch. It was a wonderful evening. Thank you Dave, Leigh Anne, Michelle, Suzie, Alexis, Lisa, Linda, Joe, and Amanda for your help! We've had several fathers contact us because they were unable to attend. We will be holding a Dads & Doughnuts soft launch after intersession for any fathers who weren't able to attend and are interested in participating. More to come soon!
Secret Santa seemed to go off very smoothly. This year we moved the wrapping to the library and that seemed to work out well. There were a few suggestions that I will be sharing with PTO in January. Please let me know if you had any concerns so that we can be sure to note them! Overall, students had a wonderful time and did lots of shopping! :)
