Week 4, Term 3

Deputy Principal's Message

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa

Kia ora e te whānau mā

We had a wonderful farewell at assembly today for Whaea Vanessa our Teacher Aide. Thanks to everyone who supported at today’s assembly and wore Vanessa’s favourite colour purple. It was sad to be saying good-bye to Vanessa after 8 years of service to the students and staff of Hautapu School. In her time at Hautapu School Vanessa has worked tirelessly to support a number of our students in and out of the classroom. She also played a major role in the organisation of our Hautapu Agricultural days throughout the years and was a great asset to our school community. Vanessa always approached her role with a willingess to support and exhibited a warm and kind nature wherever she worked around the school. Vanessa has made the decision to put her well-being first and take time out for herself. I’m sure after the busy years at Hautapu School she certainly deserves a break. We hope to see Vanessa back at school for our Agricultural Day as she is stilll keen to be involved which we are very grateful for. Mā te wā Whaea Vanessa. E mihi ana ki a koe mo tou manākitanga ki te tauira me te whānau nui o te kura o Hautapu.

Big shout out to our Kapa Haka students. Over 60 students from year 3-8 are part of our group and that is awesome. They have been busy practising for the Cambridge School’s Kapa Haka Festival being held at Sir Don Rowland’s Centre Mighty River Lake Karāpiro Domain on Friday 1st September. A newsletter will be sent out to families soon regarding performance times and general organisation on the day. In the meantime keep practising your waiata, haka, waewae takahia, pukana and whetero. He karawhiua!(Go for it!)

Koromiko and Kauri classes head to camp next Wednesday until Friday in Waihi. We look forward to hearing back about their experiences and old mining tales.

Good luck to our Year 7/8 students entered in the NIWA Science Fair being held at Distinction Hotel in Hamilton next week. I was very impressed with the quality of the projects when displayed at school a few weeks back. You have all worked extremely hard (and probably parents too) to have your presentations ready to be judged among other entries across the Waikato. Good luck!

To all our students who are involved in sport this week and over the weekend, enjoy yourself, give your best and remember to thank referees and supporters after the game.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Mauri ora!
