Mechanical Engineering

Why Mechanical Engineering?
I would go into the mechanical engineering field because I would get the chance to design and work on improving cars. I have always been interested in finding cool ways to design cars and how to make them friendlier to the environment.
A day as a Mechanical Engineer
Mechanical engineers are typically involved with the processing of materials and the control and automation of manufacturing systems. So you will mainly see them working in car factories and other factories that have machines building or packaging products, which is why the demand for these types of engineers is going to continue to grow as we head towards getting rid of human factories and switch to all machines.
How much does a Mechanical Engineer make?
A mechanical engineer will start off their career making less than $52,550, but as the engineer continues to work they can begin to make between $100,000-$123,000 a year. Many of the bigger companies that rely on machines will pay closer to $65,000-$80,000 to students coming right out of college.
What education do I need?
In order to become a mechanical engineer you have to get your Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and you also have to get your Professional Engineering license. And with a 5% projected growth in the need for a mechanical engineer between 2012-2022, the demand will be high.
