Principal Post
October 2016
Principal Points
During the month of October, classroom teachers will hold conferences with all parents. Teachers will review all beginning of the year assessments with parents. We are committed to providing the best educational environment for all of our students. We welcome and value your support and collaboration.
Instructional Time
We love planning engaging activities for your child and we use every minute of it to ensure student success. Please avoid interrupting your child's class with late arrivals and early pickups. The student handbook states that parents should check in their students if they arrive late and 2:30pm is the cut off for early pickups. This is to ensure the safety of our students on their way to school and home. Also to protect instructional time parents will not be allowed to walk students to class after the tardy bell unless they have a scheduled conference with the teacher. School staff will walk students down to the classroom.
Bus Information
As our bus ridership continues to grow, please help us to prevent overage on our buses by making alternate transportation plans for any play-dates, slumber parties, and similar activities. Thank you for reiterating to your child about the importance of respecting fellow students and following the rules and expectations of the bus driver.
Fire Prevention Week
Our school will be observing Fire Prevention Week the week of October 10-14 with special activities for each grade level. We appreciate the support of the Chatham County Fire Marshal's office and the North Chatham Volunteer Fire Department.
Eat a Rainbow Week
Our school will be observing Eat a Rainbow Week the week of October 10-14 to emphasize the importance of healthy eating by choosing a wide variety of fruits and vegetables daily. We invite our students to celebrate this special week by dressing as follows if possible:
Monday - Red
Tuesday - Orange
Wednesday - Yellow
Thursday - Green
Friday - Blue or Purple
Welcome!
We are pleased to announce that Ms. Ronda Teta has joined our staff as a first grade instructional assistant. Ms. Kim Vickers is transitioning into a new position as kindergarten teacher. We are excited about what Ms. Teta and Ms. Vickers will be able to contribute to our students!
Volunteer Application Process
As a reminder, all parents and guardians that wish to serve as volunteers at school (including chaperoning field trips), must be cleared through the Chatham County Schools volunteer screening process. Please be sure to complete the application as soon as possible if you anticipate chaperoning a field trip this year and/or if you plan to volunteer in another capacity. Please note that the application must be completed on an annual basis.
