Egg Harbor Township High School
Week of December 5, 2021
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Greetings,
It’s been a hectic week as we get closer to the winter break! To start, our play, "Legally Blonde", was a smashing hit!! Our Director, Mr. Guenther and Producer, Mr. Kristeller, exceeded all expectations to put on an incredible show! With the help of Ms. Portnoy (Choreographer), Ms. Volpe (Costume Design), Mr. McCafferty (Crew Adviser), Mr. Milnes (Vocal Director), Mr. Fong (Pit Director), Mr. Bates (Sound), Mr. House (Site Supervisor), and Dr. Kadetsky (Fine and Performing Arts Supervisor), students were groomed and ready to give the show of their lives! Great job to all! Looking forward to “Sister Act” in the spring!
The Thespian Club had its first meeting on Dec. 9 to discuss the Thespian Festival in January. At this festival dance, theater and tech crews get to show off and compete for bragging rights! Best of luck to them and ”Go EHT!” #EHTPRIDE
Check out these events and save the date! They will not disappoint! The high school winter chorus concert will be held December 16, at 7:00 PM. In January, we are excited for the band and percussion ensembles concert on January 13 and the district orchestra concert (high school and both middle schools) on January 20, 2022.
Speaking above of percussion and Mr. Kristeller! Our administration paraded through the school on December 10 to recognize Mr. Kristeller as our 2022 Teacher of the Year! We were accompanied by students and teachers as well as the reigning Teacher of the Year Mr. House.
Mr. Kristeller was very surprised and humbled that his colleagues voted him as EHTHS Teacher of the Year! Our Educational Professional of the Year is Mr. Joe Mohnacs who is a one to one paraprofessional in the High School. Congratulations to both of them.
Speaking of teacher of the year, it is time to recognize this year's teacher of the year and paraprofessional at the next board of education meeting. Come out on December 14 to Alder Avenue boardroom and see our 2021-2022 teachers recognized! That will be Mr. House (Science Teacher) and Mr. Lee (Athletic Trainer).
Until next week, have a wonderful weekend! Stay safe, be well, continue to dream of the possibilities ahead of us, be happy and smile at someone!
Ms. Connor

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Students of the Week
Nominee: Sharmeen Zahid
Nominated by: Christa Delaney
Sharmeen noticed that one of our turtles was stuck in the tubing for the pump and she saved the day because we were able to quickly help the turtle.
Nominee: Blanca Ley Rodriguez
Nominated by: Mr. Pecchia
Blanca is a kind, polite, thoughtful, positive young woman who is always willing to help her teachers and peers. Since the start of the school year ELL has received over 25 new students to the program. As the need for assistance grew, Blanca rose to the occasion. This was evident as Blanca was a peer guide for most of the new students, a job that lasted over two months! She continually took the time to help, not just as a peer guide, but in any way possible. Thank you, Blanca! We truly appreciate it!

Student Assistance Program and Resources
The High School has adopted a new bullying-prevention program for this school year!
#DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion.
This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams. We even have 3 of our own students who were selected by the foundation as leaders for this initiative!
The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly. This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring.
This notion is called being an #Upstander.
Has your student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!?
Have them sign into their school account and click here! 😊
