Teeland Middle School
December 2022
Letter from the Principal
12-1-22
Dear Teeland Families:
Happy Holidays!! TMS staff are hoping you had a safe and happy Thanksgiving break with your families. We have four weeks until the end of the first semester and the beginning of winter break. Students have classes through December 22nd this year and attendance is extremely important for your child’s success. We are hoping that all of our bus routes will be running very soon so students can attend daily. If your student is needing additional support, every Tuesday and Wednesday we have an after school Homework Club from 2:30-3:30. On Tuesdays, our Math Lab is also offered after school for students that may need extra time with a math teacher. Students need to fill out a permission slip from the office in order to attend.
Academic support can also be accessed through our FLEX classes. FLEX is offered W/TH/F during the last period of the day. Students can request placement through their 4 C’s teacher to attend a specific class. Please reach out to your child’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns.
Starting second semester TMS is implementing required locker use. Our students have gotten used to carrying around their belongings, but our classrooms are too small for 30 overfilled backpacks. Student backpacks are incredibly heavy and take up a lot of space. They have become a safety issue for tripping in the classrooms and in the halls. We have also seen an increase in thefts from the backpacks left laying around the halls. Students will need to place their winter gear and backpacks in their hall locker during the day. In order to accommodate this change, students will have access to their lockers in between all of their classes and have an additional minute added to passing time. With the exception of lunchtime, students will be asked to leave all electronic and personal items in their lockers throughout the day.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to continue working with your amazing students!
