STAAR Testing - Next Week

We will be a closed campus on May 10-13th for STAAR testing of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. We will have testers in both the main building and the portables. With that being said, we ask that you do not make any appointments for your student (K-5th) during this week as early dismissals are a disruption for testers.

Below are a few reminders for testing week:

  • Make sure your student gets plenty of sleep and healthy breakfast.
  • NO ELECTRONICS. This includes any type of digital and/or smart watch.
  • Please arrive on time to help alleviate any additional stress your student might be feeling. Late students will not be allowed to test if it's begun.
  • Free dress passes are not allowed on STAAR testing days for all grade levels.
  • Please contact the Front Office asap if your student has an appointment that cannot be changed
  • Send a ready to eat lunch, an extra snack, and plenty of water. No lunch deliveries this week.
  • We cannot have volunteers on campus this week. (Copy cats, recess/lunch monitors, etc.)

Make plans to attend our annual Uniform Consignment Sale. This year's sale will be held on Tuesday, May 24th and Wednesday, May 25th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. It's also the perfect time to sell your gently used uniform shirts, pants, shorts, skorts and spirit wear shirts. All items must be clean and in great condition. No rips, stains, or jean pants. If you are interested in participating as a consignor in this event, please contact DCA PTO at DentonClassicalPTO@gmail.com for information and details.

Attendance Reminders

A few reminders regarding school attendance:

  • Email the Front Office at dcaattendance@responsiveed.com if you are going to be late or absent. The RES handbook states: "When a student must be absent from school, it is the parent’s responsibility to {notify} the school office each day to explain the reason for the student’s absence."
  • Three consecutive absences must have a doctor's note to be excused. Notes may be presented to the Front Office, emailed, or faxed to (866) 919-5316.
  • When pulling a student for a doctor's appointment, please email the front office of your student's campus at least 2 hours in advance of pickup time.
  • Please note: All students must be signed out by an authorized parent/contact. Please have your ID ready. The cut-off time for pickup is 2:55 p.m.

  • Tardies: See Handbook for tardy policy.

We are Hiring!

Interested in Being a Substitute Teacher?

We're hiring Substitute Teachers at our campus here at Denton Classical Academy. We invite you to visit here to learn more and apply!

Lunch Monitors

As we approach the end of the school year, we could use a few volunteers to assist with monitoring lunches. This is a great way to get involved. Because the task requires one's full attention, younger siblings won't be able to join in this volunteer opportunity.

As always, you must be a RES-approved volunteer to participate. Learn more and sign up here.

Please reach out to the Front Office with any questions.

Recess Monitors

We are looking for volunteers to sign up to be recess monitor, here. This is a great way to give teachers extra time to lesson plan and prep for their classes. We are asking that volunteers not bring any other children while being a recess monitor, just out of an abundance of caution.

In order to sign up you must to be an approved volunteer. You may apply to be a DCA volunteer HERE.

DCA Student Calendar in Google

For those who use the Google suite, we have created a DCA Student Calendar. Please use the below link if you wish to add this calendar to your Google Account:
