Monday Message
From the desk of Dr. Harrell
February 3, 2020
Good Afternoon-
This week is National Counseling Week. Our UCISD campus and district counselors are a group of dynamic professional educators who continue to do amazing work in advising, guiding, listening, and sometimes intervening with our students. They assist in creating and setting positive trajectories for our students as they journey through each grade level culminating in graduation. They play a significant role in our students' journey to college oftentimes helping students and families overcome hidden and difficult barriers.
Our UCISD counselors find ways to empower students by better understanding their strengths and weaknesses. They help students find and understand their role on campus and how to get involved. A school counselor has to be a successful plate spinner and always be equipped with a smile and a calm reassuring voice. Our students have the power to change the world, and our school counselors play a significant role in providing guidance and direction for them to achieve their dreams and make their mark.
Join me this week in saying ‘Thank You’ to our school counselors.

Blended Learning Grant Information
We are grateful to all of the parents, community members, administrators, students, and teachers that took the time out of their day to join us for the Blended Learning focus group meetings.
Anyone that was not able to attend and would like to contribute remotely, you can fill out the quick form below and submit it. This will help us collect the data we need to fine-tune our instructional design specifically for the students of UCISD!
Please contact Natalie Arias, Blended Learning Specialist at narias5342@uvaldecisd.net if you have any questions at all.
Uvalde CISD is launching a strategic planning process to create a strategic and innovative vision for Uvalde CISD learning and facilities design. To launch this process, the district is asking parents, students, district staff, business leaders, and community members to share their innovative vision of the future. Stakeholders can provide feedback through an online survey.
Information, feedback, and input gathered will be used by a design team comprised of citizens and district staff who will create a community-focused strategic direction for technology and facilities. This strategic direction will include a set of community beliefs, call to action, goals, action steps, and a learner profile. Additionally, it will allow Uvalde CISD to measure student learning and serve as a guide for the district as it makes future decisions regarding instruction, technology, budgeting, staffing, and facility planning.
This survey is only 8 questions and should take you 5-10 minutes to complete. Each question requires a response.
DEADLINE TO COMPLETE SURVEY IS Tuesday, February 4, 2020.
Thank you in advance for your feedback and dedication to positive changes for the students of Uvalde CISD!
Please contact Natalie Arias, Blended Learning Specialist at narias5342@uvaldecisd.net if you have any questions at all.
