Answers to Some Frequently Asked Questions
Governor Parsons has announced that all Missouri schools will be closed for in person learning the remainder of the school year. While that gives us some direction, it also poses many questions.
Q. Will Clever schools continue to offer Grab-N-Go food service?
A. Yes, at this point we intend to continue our current food service distribution through May 11th.
Q. Will enrichment learning continue?
A. Yes, Clever schools will continue to offer learning opportunities through various platforms.
Q. Will students be promoted to the next grade?
A. If a student’s progress during the first three quarters of the school year was satisfactory, they will be promoted to the next grade. For high school students, credits for second semester will be awarded based on their third quarter grades. Students are being given the opportunity to make up or re-do missing or failed assignments from the third quarter. Any work assigned during this time will be scored only if it improves a student’s grade. Teachers may be introducing new content at this time. Scores for these assignments will be used only if it improves a student's grade.
Q. How are teachers connecting with students?
A. Teachers are currently using Seesaw, Canvas, and Remind to make learning opportunities available. Teachers are also reaching out to connect with families via phone calls and emails. Our teachers are very creative and innovative, and are finding ways to connect with students.
Q. What about summer school?
A. We would like to think that summer school is a possibility, but we will only look at offering summer school when and if the threat of COVID-19 has been mitigated. When we have any concrete information to offer, we will share it with our families.
Q. What about those who have moved to the district and want to enroll for next year?
A. We plan to have our enrollment days August 5 (Grades K-8) and August 6 (Grades 9-12). We will put out reminders and more information this summer.
Q. What about Kindergarten Screening?
A. Obviously, in the current environment we cannot conduct kindergarten screening in the traditional way. At this time, we are putting plans in place to reach out to any families who plan to enroll their kindergarten students in the Clever School District next year. Keep watching our district facebook page, the Parents As Teachers facebook page, and the district website for information.
Q. When will students be allowed to collect their belongings from their lockers?
A. We are currently working with our custodial staff on a plan to package and label all items from each locker. After that has been done, we will set up dates and times for retrieval. This will be carried out much like our Grab-N-Go meal distribution. In order to keep everyone as safe as possible, items will be delivered to vehicles by school staff and patrons will be asked to remain in their vehicles. More information will be shared as soon as we have details worked out.
