What We Are Learning
Bug Stops Here!
The Museum of Nature and Science brought an amazing field trip right to our classroom! We learned a lot about arthropods and arachnids!
Live Madagascar Cockroach!
We had a choice to touch a real living insect!
Hands on learning helped us to explore everything we wanted to know about bugs!
What animals eat insects? Where do dung beetles lay their eggs? What is pollen? How do insects pollinate flowers?
How do dung beetles lay their eggs?
Dung beetles lay their eggs in animal poop-dung and roll it through underground tunnels. We tried it too!
An insect sheds its exoskeleton!
Insects have skeletons on the outside and shed them for new ones as they grow! Divya tried wiggling out of this one!
Stroking our "beards of knowledge!"
We had a lot of fun learning about insects and spiders! We got to use scientific terms to explain our learning!
Eric Carle Illustration Technique
We painted textures using a variety of tools to create paper for an Eric Carle project. Your child will cut shapes out of the paper to create an animal or insect. We have been focusing on the sight word "said" and learning how to identify quotation marks when reading and use them when writing.
Compliments with our Buddies
We are working with our 5th grade buddies on an end of year project for our memory books. Each morning we begin our day by complimenting a friend. Our buddies helped us to write a compliment for each friend. We helped ask our buddies' friends what they like about our buddies too!
Math Games
We reviewed adding and creating and identifying 2-digit numbers by rolling and adding 3 dice then trying to cover as many numbers with the sums we added on our game board as possible.
