CGE October Newsletter
Principal's Message
Hello CGE Families!
Our students and staff had a wonderful first month. We welcomed 460+ students back to CGE! It was so nice to see the smiles and excitement from your children. It was a busy month and I am sure that students had plenty to share with you each day. A new year brings new routines, expectations and many new faces. Thank you for reviewing the CGE Work, Respect and Belong Expectations with your child. This information was sent home in September. These are the basic expectations here at CGE and your child knows or is learning what each of those expectations include. Mrs. Faletti, our school social worker, and I met with each grade level to review these expectations and also to review the definition of bullying and the district bullying policy. If you have questions or concerns throughout the year, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or me. It is important to us that we work together to ensure that each student has a positive, engaging, learning experience!
We are adding to our WRB ( Work, Respect, Belong) program this year. Students and teachers are able to nominate students who are demonstrating the WRB Characteristic of the month. The month of September our word was Responsible. Each classroom has a nomination box and at the end of each week all the nominations are read aloud so that students are recognized for their positive behavior. Each teacher will also select one student to be the CGE Capable Community Member of the month and those students will have their name and picture posted for the month on our WRB Board in the commons. September CGE Capable Community Members who demonstrated RESPONSIBLE behaviors are as follows:
Kindergarten
Cullen Price
Bryson Bailey
Zoe Clifford
First Grade
Andrew Long
Baylie Ku
Abigail Gavin
Second Grade
Connor Pringle
Alyssa Kerr
Olive Kamara
Third Grade
Ava Lippert
Jordyn Pringle
Morgan Brinkman
Carson Fritsche
Fourth Grade
Piper Anderson
Christian Yang
Chloe Nguyen
Fifth Grade
Alaina Post
Carter Seiko
Amelia Jansen
Our October WRB Characteristic will be KIND. Students will be recognized for demonstrating kind behaviors!
I would like to thank the many volunteers who helped out at our Open House on August 28th . PTO members were present and they are looking forward to working with many new faces this year. They are now busy preparing for the upcoming all school carnival. Our one and only fundraiser for the year! Many volunteers are needed. Please take a look at the sign up on our CGE website if you are interested in helping out. I hope to see you at the carnival on Friday, Oct. 11th!
Lastly, our office staff will be routinely asking visitors for identification. We will be transitioning to a new check in system sometime in November which will require ALL visitors to scan their driver’s license for identification purposes. Until that point, please do carry your identification and be prepared to show it to our office staff when visiting.
Have a wonderful day!
Theresa

Art Updates from Mrs. Soucheray!
Self Portrait Mural
In Art class, students in grades K-5 created self portraits. We practiced using “lawnmower lines” to add color to our drawings using the color wheel. Check out our finished mural in the commons! Nice work, CGE artists!!
Supply Donations
We are looking for a few donations of supplies to be used in the art room. Items needed include: paper plates, Ziploc bags (gallon and sandwich sizes), black sharpies, and q-tips. If you can donate any of these, please send them with your child to the Art Room. Thank you so much!
Square One Art Fundraiser
All students (K-5) have been busy creating beautiful masterpieces in art class for our Square One Art program. Through this fundraiser you have the opportunity to purchase products such as mugs, t-shirts, canvas prints, keychains, ornaments and other items with your child’s artwork printed on them. They make great gifts and we are planning to have everything back in time for the holidays! The company offers online ordering which is fast and easy for families as well as for our school. The catalogs and ordering information along with a FREE sheet of stickers will be sent home near the end of October. The orders are due by NOVEMBER 13th! Please mark your calendars if you are interested in purchasing some awesome artwork created by your child. All the money that we raise will go back to the Art Room to be used to purchase clay, paint, oil pastels and other art supplies. Watch for more info as we get closer to these dates.
Thanks for your support!!
