Lil Steamer Families --
As the winter break approaches, I have some exciting personal and professional news to share with you all.
Most of you have probably seen my dog, Rocco, with me at school or at events. He's a Frenchton (French Bulldog + Boston Terrier) breed who is now 19 months old.
Over the past few months he's completed his Level 1 Obedience training and his Canine Good Citizen award through Big River Canine in Clinton, Iowa. (If you're looking for a place to train your dog, I cannot speak highly enough about BRC!)
Following his training there, Rocco completed training in the Quad City area with Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs.
As of this newsletter, Rocco has completed all of his required training and is now a professional therapy dog (not just a school therapy dog - he can visit hospitals, nursing homes, etc.) while we just wait on our official paperwork and certificates.
Rocco has now become the assistant (to the) principal at the Greatest Little Elementary School in the Universe and is a huge hit with our students and staff alike.
I am quite the proud dog dad and excited that we get to go to school every day together. Here are a few of my favorite photos of him.
Wishing you the very best this holiday season,
JAGH & Rocco

Children enjoy spreading holiday cheer. Here are some random acts of kindness your children could do as the holidays approach:
Pick up litter.
Donate clothes you no longer need.
Put money in the Salvation Army bucket.
Make get well cards for someone who needs them.
Make a holiday card for someone you love.
Make holiday decorations for others.
Make ornaments for your neighbor.
Donate new toys to Toys for Tots.
Feed the birds.
Speech and Language News: Mrs. Beveroth
Choosing toys for children:
- Look for toys that can be used in different ways (stacking, building, falling)
- Choose toys that encourage your child’s imagination and creativity (blocks, dress-up clothes/toys, toy food, pretend play scenes)
- Choose toys that encourage logical thinking and problem solving (puzzles, shape sorters, play dough)
- Avoid toys that are electronic: children and adults talk less when playing with an electronic toy
- Books are a great way to encourage literacy and language skills!
If you are concerned about your child’s communication skills, please contact me by email at lbeveroth@riverbendschools.net or by phone at 815-589-2911.

Help support the 3D printing lab at FES
Last year, FES received a grant to purchase a 3D printer and the students loved learning how 3D printers work. Toward the end of last year, we had a parent graciously donated a second 3D printer. Since, we were able to get 5 more printers over the 2021 summer. Now, we have 7 3D printers! Mr. Dail along with Mr. Tenboer have been printing projects continuously since the start of the year. Many of the items that we have printed can be seen on the table in our morning announcements! However, printing all of these projects means we run out of materials once in awhile. If you have used or seen a 3D printer, the material is called filament. We mainly use PLA filament and the button below is a link to an Amazon wishlist full of filament. If you are willing to donate a roll, it is greatly appreciated, but please do not feel that you need to.
