New Year, New Resolutions to Break (joking, sort of)
Resolutions are hard! As stated in the E-Colors session, changing a habit takes 66 days, and that's a long time! Have you found your accountability partner/s yet to help you stay committed to your goals? Do you have a clear plan with action steps and milestones?
One method of getting started on goals is an action board. A friend shared an action board with me the other day someone had made to work on toward health goals. She had action steps, reasons to get healthier, visuals of her goal, and even had an interactive piece she could change as she worked toward meeting her goals (adorable mini-clothespins to move from one ribbon to another for each pound lost). She is sharing her board with others for accountability, and is displaying it in a central location to keep her focused and motivated.
Below are some great examples of vision and action boards created by others that you might love to try! An action board can be used for any type of goal, and if it's interactive, can be changed and adjusted for new steps or milestones! These boards are also sometimes called vision boards if they are a general "vision" for your ideas and dreams for your life, but an action board adds specifics of what you have to do to get there!

January Kindness Challenge
Character Challenge for January: Be Kind to Others :)
This month we are focusing on showing kindness, to our students, to each other, and to ourselves. Mr. H. sent out an email and a calendar to complete daily acts of kindness, and it's been really awesome so far! If you forget what each day's challenge is, check your email, look at the blue paper that was put in your mailbox this week, or look at the office calendar area where we have one displayed! It went home in the parent newsletter too, so pump it up with your students to do each day! And of course, let's keep up being kind beyond just the month of January!
In keeping with the Kindness Challenge, Kid President has some great advice on 20 things we should say more often to each other!

Our Chancellor Comet of the Week is...Tameka Perry!
Mrs. Melina Idi has nominated Tameka Perry, REACH 2/3 aide, as our next Comet of the Week! She says "Ms. Perry goes out of her way when working with her students. She has a bond with them that just melts ones heart. Every time I run into Ms. Perry she makes me laugh, which shows that she has a sense of humor. Everyone needs a friend and co-worker like Ms. Perry in their life."
Mrs. Perry will have the COW parking spot in the front for next week, a jeans pass, and a snack shack coupon. She will also get to pick the next Comet of the Week!
"Chancellor Under the Sea" is January 26th!
For those of you at Chancellor for the past few years, you will remember we have a themed math/literacy/science night in January. This event was cancelled last year due to the Great Chancellor Flood of 2016 (hope that sounded dramatic enough). We will be able to host this even again, and the theme this year will be "Chancellor Under the Sea."
Team leaders will get all information during TL meeting on Monday, but just start thinking (and looking for) ocean-themed games or fun activities for your grade level, and if you want to dress up for the theme, feel free to start thinking about that too. We will do it similar as before, where each grade level has around 3 booths (literacy, math, and science/social studies) for families to come and play. If you're new to Chancellor, you will have questions, so please talk to veteran team members about what "Chancellor Under the Sea" has looked like in the past.
