Continue to alert the office of issues during the day or from the day before- we need to know!!
Each morning Henry will be focusing on making sure that there are no major physical plant issues affecting rooms, blowing off mats, sidewalks in the front of the building, and around the entry/exit doors on each wing. He will also be blowing off the K/1 areas around your external doors (mats, accumulated sand, etc.). We hope that more frequent clearing of this debris will help reduce the grit that comes in your room. He will also be dry mopping the hallways mid morning soon after students have arrived so that the initial grit is cleared.
Students can help the effort by making sure that they thoroughly wipe their feet prior to entering the building. Many of you keep your room with a neat appearance by asking students that each student picks up 5 items for the trash before or reentering the classroom. Many of you use Friday to clean and organize desks. This encourages everyone's responsibility to keep rooms clean and teamwork. In addition, remind your students EACH DAY to bring in their coats, notebooks, pencils, etc. as these items are continually found on the playground.
We are tentatively scheduled for the Memorial Day Weekend for having our floors done. Thank you in advance for marking it on your calendars.

FIRE DRILL UPDATE: WCPSS Security has asked all schools, in response to the Florida High School tragedy, to announce just prior to future fire drills that it is a drill versus just ringing the alarm so that students and staff know that it is a drill.
PICTURES FOR YEARBOOK: Please keep posting your pictures in the Google Yearbook folders titled PUE Pics 2017-18. If you have any question about access to the folder please let Kevin know. Other questions specific to the Yearbook should go to Cameron Johnson.
SAFETY FIRST: We sent home a detailed reminder for some recurring safety items to enhance the safety of our students and staff. Specifically, please remember that if students leave early for appointments that they will be called to the office by office staff versus a parent coming to the room. Recently, we have had some parents go to the classroom without a visitor pass to pick their child up. This puts you or perhaps a substitute teacher in an uncomfortable, if not dangerous position, especially if you don't know the parent. It is also a disruption of your instruction. As a result, if a parent comes to the room to sign their child out you are refer them to the office for student check out. Contact the office if there is any pushback on this to receive administrative support. If you have any questions please see Lara or Kevin.
