Principal's Message
Hello CV Family,
We are definitely looking at a sprint as we head into the last leg of this semester! We have many opportunities for students to receive tutoring from students, teachers, and through events such as Link Crew’s Cocoa and Cram which will take place on Wednesday, December 8th, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The end of the semester can be a stressful time for students which is one reason we plan the CV Wellness Week for this week. Events will be held throughout the week to help students with some of the challenges that come with this time of year. We truly have an amazing school community and I know our staff is appreciative of our parents and students. I would encourage you to reach out to any staff members that make an impression on your student. A simple message from a parent is extremely meaningful and appreciated.
Below are some areas I would like to share with you and encourage you to explore further in the newsletter.
2nd Semester Road Construction: The Town of Gilbert reached out to let us know of a traffic change that will impact our return to campus to start off the second semester. Quartz Street will be closed between Germann Road and Coyote Drive. More details are provided in the newsletter, including a map.
Cardiac Screening Day 1/13: CV Biomed is partnering with the Anthony Bates Foundation to provide cardiac screenings for students from ages ten to adults. More information can be found in the newsletter, but I wanted to highlight this opportunity for our community.
CVHS Site Council Meeting: On December 1st, our School Resource Officer (SRO), Officer Dietz, and SVJH SRO, Officer Avery, presented on drug awareness and trends. The parents that were in attendance provided very positive feedback and would like for us to have another presentation so we could reach more parents. We will look for a second semester date for a presentation if we have enough interest from our community.
Thank you for your continued support and please let us know how we can support you and your student!

road closure
The Town of Gilbert’s contractor continues work on the Germann Road Improvements and needs to conduct work on the north side of Germann Road at Quartz Street.
In order to work on Roosevelt Water Conservation District (RWCD) facilities as part of the project, this work needs to be conducted during a scheduled dry-up, which is scheduled to begin December 20.
To accommodate this work and improvements to the north side of Germann Road at Quartz Street, the following restriction will be in place: Quartz Street will be CLOSED north of Germann Road to just south of the Campo Verde High School driveway beginning December 20 through January 11.

2nd semester schedule changes
As we end the first semester of the school year, students and parents should review second semester schedules to ensure that students are scheduled correctly. Students have an opportunity to meet with their counselor prior to December 8th to make any necessary adjustments.
If you have one of the following issues with your schedule, please schedule a time to meet with your counselor no later than December 8th:
Missing a class
Scheduled into a class that you have already taken
Incorrect level
Missing a required course

ECAP Presentation
ECAP: Four Year Plan
All students have seen a presentation about ECAP (Education-Career Action Plan) in their Advisory class. We have attached a copy of the slide show here for your reference. Part of the presentation shows students how to enter their four-year plan for classes into the Infinite Campus Academic Planning feature. ALL students must have their plan entered by May of this school year. It is from this planner that all course requests will be filled. Again, please review these choices with your child to ensure that it is accurate and complete. These plans may be changed as students learn more about themselves and their plans for the future. The classes entered for sophomore year will be locked in February.
If you or your child have any questions, we encourage you to contact the assigned counselor. We are happy to help in this process.

Pre-ACT Registration
Campo is excited to offer another practice standardized testing opportunity. The PreACT will take place on Saturday, January 8, 2022. Sign up is open in the bookstore Monday, November 8 - Friday, December 17. The cost of the test is $25. This is a great opportunity for juniors to practice before the official ACT which will be given on March 1, 2022. More details on the PreACT can be found here.
There are many benefits to the PreACT:
Identify your current academic readiness for college and career using your PreACT score report
Predict how you'll perform on the ACT after an additional year of learning
Determine skills you can improve based on your performance
Explore how your career aspirations align with your interests

Library Updates
*********************************
Library Information:
We enjoyed a week of hosting a book fair in the library. It was great to see kids bubbling over with excitement and talking about books! And 20% of each sale came back to the CVHS library, so thank you! All online purchases will be delivered to the school for pick up between December 13-16. Contact sara.flaherty@gilbertschools.net with any questions.
Digital Citizenship:
Here is another tip from CommonSense.org that will help you as a parent guide your teen when it comes to posting online and creating a digital footprint. Search yourself: Take turns looking up your name and your kid's name on a search engine and a social platform. Discuss the results. Are you both comfortable with what information and images are available to strangers? Is there anyone whom you wouldn't want to see those results?
