SUMMER SCHOOL REGISTRATION 2023
Traditional Summer School (available for students in Grades K-7)
This option integrates both reading and math into thematic units centered around high interest topics and essential skills of learning. Each grade level will take on a specific theme to properly engage students at their level.
Dates: June 6-June 29, 2023 (15 days), with no school on Fridays.
Student Day: 8:00 - 11:50 a.m.
7th grade will have an option for an ELA focus or a math focus.
At least 15 students must be enrolled in each course for it to be held.
Format: In person.
Location: Chesterton Middle School.
Limited transportation will be available.
No meals provided.
Ancient Egypt Adventures - High Ability (1st - 4th grade)
This integrated summer school program provides students with a time traveling adventure complete with reading, writing, projects, presentations and enrichment activities to dig deeper into essential skills. The program is developed and facilitated by Duneland's high ability staff. This year's focus: Ancient Egyptian Adventures.
- High Ability Summer School is available by invitation only for students identified as high ability and are currently in grades 1-4.
- At least 15 students must be enrolled for the course to be held.

Duneland Adventures -- Projected-Based Course with an Adventure theme (Grades 5-6-7)
Duneland Adventures is a language arts and math project based course that focuses on an adventure thematic unit. Students will participate in an action-filled adventure as they utilize reading, writing, and math skills and concepts. The course is developed and facilitated by teachers, Mr. Dave Lashenik and Mr. Nick Bamber.

Grades 5-6-7

Robotics - Tackling the New Game
Connecting science, technology, engineering, math & reading, students will dive into the new game, master the rules, build the hero bot to determine pros/cons, modify what was built, begin developing game strategy, "scrimmage" with built bots at the end. The program is developed and facilitated by Duneland School Corporation’s Robotics’ Coaches.
Robotics -- Tackling the New Game is available for students currently in 4th and 5th grade (will be entering 5th & 6th grade in 2023-2024)
This course will take place for 7 days
Dates: June 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14 and 15
Student day: 8:00 - 11:50 a.m.
Grades 4 & 5 - 7 days
At least 15 students must be enrolled for courses to be held.
The maximum number of students for the Robotics course is 60.
