ECLC Class News

Week of 1/25-1/29

What we did this week ...

Our centers and books were about cold weather and cold weather animals. I read the story, The Penguin and the Cupcake and Polar Bear Polar Bear What Do You Hear? We did a retelling activity following the reading of the story.

For our centers, the students measured items, found sight word snow balls in bins of snow (cotton balls), and put beginning letter or word marshmallows in hot chocolate mugs with pictures on them.

We have a new student, Taylor, starting on Monday. She came in on Wednesday with her Mom, so that she could see the program before she started.

Other things we did this week ....

In math, the students worked on measuring with unifix cubes, answering verbal math problems, and ordering and identifying numbers.

In phonics, the students continued to tap out sounds to make words. Some of the students are having some difficulty tapping. We will continue to practice, but I also told the students that they could tap the sounds out on their leg or table.

We did a review of our learned sight words this week.

If any parent is interested in coming in to be a guest reader, please let me know.

Have a great weekend!
