Hello North families,
Today, September 17, is Constitution Day. On this day in 1787 in Philadelphia, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document they had created.
The Constitution of the United States established America’s national government and fundamental laws, and guaranteed certain basic rights for its citizens.
Under America’s first governing document, the national government was weak and states operated like independent countries. At the 1787 convention, delegates devised a plan for a stronger federal government with three branches—executive, legislative and judicial—along with a system of checks and balances to ensure no single branch would have too much power.
"We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Today is the celebration of the creation of a living document that has continually grown. Including in 1791 adding the Bill of Rights and to date 27 constitutional amendments. HEARING SCREENINGS
Hearing Screenings will take place for kindergarten, 1st, and 4th grade students on Monday, September 20th and Tuesday, September 21st here at North Elementary by our Speech-Language Pathologists. Additionally, if your child is new to North Elementary this year, they will be screened as well.

Hi North families!! Each year, Hamilton County Kids Coats does a fall coat giveaway. Below are the details on how to sign up to receive free coats for this winter season! Please share this with any other Hamilton County families you know that may be interested.

News from the Nurse
Seasonal Allergies. Seasonal allergies are here! Seasonal allergies, also known as hay fever or seasonal allergic rhinitis, are allergy symptoms that occur during certain times of the year, usually when outdoor molds release their spores or trees, grasses and weeds release tiny pollen particles into the air to fertilize other plants. The immune systems of people who are allergic to mold spores or pollen treat these particles (called allergens) as invaders and release chemicals, including histamine, into the bloodstream to defend against them. It’s the release of these chemicals that causes allergy symptoms.
Seasonal allergies mirror COVID-19 symptoms with runny nose, congestion and cough. If your child’s seasonal allergies flare up, please reach out to your school nurse to discuss. Your nurse is here to help.

COLLEGE GO! WEEK is the week of September 20- 24th. The goal of College GO! Week is to encourage Hoosiers of ALL ages to plan for college completion and career success. North is kicking off this week by having everyone wear their favorite college shirt on Monday September 20th. Here are the dress up days for the week of September 20th.

· Tuesday: College and Career Starts Now: wear your current school colors or school gear

According to the Good Samaritan Network, Hamilton County has at least 18,000 persons who are living below the poverty level. Please help us keep our kids warm and
cozy by donating new or gently used coats, mittens, gloves, hats, or boots.

Each item collected will find a home in Hamilton County.
All donations will be distributed at the 2021 Fall coat give-aways
